Free Clinics and Benzodiazepines

Swim has never been prescribed benzodiazepines. Although he is 100% sure he is a candidate for them. He gets panic attacks a lot and spends almost all of his time in public or around people feeling nervous. Only amphetamines and benzodiazepines fix this, and to a degree opiates and chain smoking.

Swim has no medical insurance, and no job. Unfortunatley, his anxiety also makes it hard for him to get a job. His last three jobs he got without an interview actually, through knowing people, and his most recent they hired him before the interview just because of his resume.

This time, there is no easy way out. Swim has to go out and apply and deal with interviews. This is BAD. Swim gets REALLY twitchy and nervous and can hardly talk and he makes really incoherent sentences. He tries his best to get through it but it makes him feel like a complete idiot. This has actually caused him to delay looking for a new job for a couple months, and he came VERY close (actually changing out of his dress clothes last minute and and changing his mind knowing he'd regret it) to blowing off an interview today, simply because he is scared of what will happen when he gets there.

So swim really wants to be put on benzo's, or at least to get a small script for interview purposes only. This is not going to be for abuse. Not at all. Swim really could benefit a lot from this. He feels awful because he thinks he lost the job he applied for today due to how he acted. Even though he has a lot of experience in the field of work and should get a good reference from the assistant manager there. It still could have very well ruined him.

The local health department offers doctors visits for $5 and has a $2 prescription fee. Plus there are programs to help pay for a three month supply of a lot of drugs. Swim is just wondering, do most of these free or cheap clinics prescribe drugs like this? Is it worth wasting the $5 he doesn't even have? Or should he wait to go to a psychiatrist? Swim is really scared he wont be able to get a prescription at all. =[
