Swim recently did sum shrooms with a couple of close friends from
school. The night before Swim had a rough time and almost got into a fight. He was half considering dropping the plans to trip out. However Swim went through with it and him and his friend made sum tea out of 3 grams between the two of them. This is not a normal dosage for Swim as to feel the effects hard he usually ingests that ammount to himself. These must have been sum pretty potent amanita because within 25 minutes swim and his friend were already havin a grand ol time and this lasted almost 4 hours. Swim played his old school Nintendo 64 games which he hadn't played in ages like mario cart racing and James Bond Goldeneye!! Both great games. It must have triggered sum good memories in Swims life because after the mush effects had ceased, Swim felt like a million bucks way better than before he had tooken them. Has anybody else had these wondrous effects from mushrooms? Almost like being reborn into a smarter calmer person |

Re: Good Comedown Off Zoomers
redbaron816,
Nice observation. Yes - many of my closest friends have reported extremely similar effects. In fact, a friend of mine was engaged in a violent confrontation, and actually revealed that subsequent psilocybe mushroom dosing served to almost completely ameliorate his strong emotional association to the event. I'm not recommending psychedelic experiences following unpleasant experiences to erase the negative memories of the experiences - merely highlighting an interesting dynamic that a friend of mine has observed. Interestingly, serotonin inhibits the recruitment of the NMDA receptor - which is generally identified as the most crucial receptor in learning and memory. The psychedelic compounds in such mushrooms increase the amount of serotonin expressed in the brain, and therefore might inhibit the activity of some neurons that would normally function to 'cement' a memory. Some friends of mine have discussed a potential theory; endogenous cannabinoids are characterized by an interesting role - they function to suppress inhibition of hippocampal neurons upon depolarization of neurons that produce them (DSI). The subjective effect of this in humans has been identified as an increase in the frequency of feelings related to general awe and an increased perceived significance elicited by, and attributed to, stimuli. In cannabis, this effect is comparatively lower due to a lower signal-to-noise ratio resulting from wider binding. It wouldn't surprise me, therefore, if serotonergic agonists may have some influence upon this dynamic, by selectively binding to more specific receptors in the area than endogenous cannabinoids do - thereby eliciting more specific feelings of 'awe' and wonder while conscious. Completely speculative, however. -G |

Interesting that under the right circumstances psychedlics can be used to help some one get over a stressful period. A big part of it has to be with good friends too Swim thinks. |

Re: Good Comedown Off Zoomers
Absolutely. There's no question that the quality of one's environment will dramatically affect one's psychedelic experience. When one is in such a volatile state of sensory suggestibility and sensitivity, the environment can oftentimes dominate and guide the experience for close friends of mine. The people my friends surround themselves with when altered with psychedelics are selected extremely meticulously - not due to some sense of self-elitism, but more to enable that vulnerably direct level of personal communication that individuals often suppress when exposed to unfamiliar people. I fully agree.
