Getting script switched from Ritalin to Adderall
Swims been on Ritalin for about 6 months now and although it works in a sense taking Ritalin for swim is like getting shot with an elephant tranquilizer. Swim likes tranquilizers but hes using this stuff so he can read and absorb information better not go to sleep. Swim doesn't want to say this to the psychiatrist because he'll probably say "okay try taking lower dosages then". Swims tried lower dosages and they just tranquilize swim for a shorter period of time and its a much less fun kind of tranquilization. Swim has tried meth before and KNOWS it works like a charm and calms swim rather than tranquilizes him. If Ritalins a high strength gorilla tranquilizer meth is valium for swim.
Swim has his next appointment with the psychiatrist coming up soon but hes wondering what to say to the psychiatrist to get him to prescribe adderall this time. This psychiatrist only gave swim the choice of strattera and ritalin but swim knows there are people that are prescribed adderall in his country. Ritalin has lots of bad effects on swim like headaches and depression and he knows meth doesnt have these effects at all on him. Should swim mention those adverse effects? |

Re: Getting script switched from Ritalin to Adderall
Everyone is supposed to tell their doctor when they have adverse effects from a medication. So yes, tell SWIYour doctor that the medicine he gave SWIY causes headaches and depression. The doctor needs to know things like that.

Re: Getting script switched from Ritalin to Adderall
Tell them every side effect you're experiencing, plus the fact that the medication isn't working (it's making SWIY nonfunctional, which is the exact OPPOSITE of what it's supposed to do.) Make a side-effect list and be as specific as possible when reporting them to your doctor.
Other than that, don't worry about what else they're gonna want you to try. Just take what they give you, give it an honest shot, and if it doesn't work, let them know next time. If SWIY goes in mentioning certain medications or refusing to try what they give you, you're likely to get nothing at all, so humor them and try what they give. They like to feel like professionals and tend to get pissy when patients are knowledgeable about health-related issues in many cases. |
