Comparison of Binding Efficacies of 2-CI, 2C-B, and 2C-D: All 5-HT2a Antagonists.
Article Published: 2004
Really cool study comparing a bunch of the receptor-interactions of 2C-B and related compounds. This study suggests that such compounds are partial 5-HT2a antagonists, and have no significant effect at the 5-HT2c receptor. This contradicts conventional wisdom regarding psychedelic activity in the brain; most psychedelics have been characterized as 5-HT2 receptor family agonists, with variable efficacies and affinities at the various receptor subtypes. DOI, for example, was demonstrated to be a full 5-HT2c agonist.
They conclude by suggesting that the activity of 2C-I, and related compounds, is likely characterized by interactions outside of the 5-HT2a receptor family.
