Any Swiy Have Experience Specifically With Darvocet (Propoxyphene)?
swim has been on and stopped many opiates, but this post withdrawal of combinations of opiates that included darvocet feels very diffirent from other post withdrawals where darvocet didn't factor in. swim has used massive amounts of darvocet in the last 2 years solely to try to function (and mostly failing) between running out of whatever he was on, until he got more of whatever he was on. darvocet for some reason helped more than codeine or hydro, dunno why.
anyways, swim has read that darvocet is one of the few drugs that "builds up" in your system, whatever the fuck that means. what exactly does that mean? does it "build up" and take much longer than the 3-7 days opiates normally take to leave the body? could THAT be the reason this time is diffirent (much worse)? swim reaalizes we don't probably don't have any darvocet experts here, but is at a loss as to why this PAWS is diffirent than PAWS after opiates or combination of opiates that didn't include darvocet. |

Re: Any Swiy Have Experience Specifically With Darvocet (Propoxyphene)?
SWIM does not know the precise answer to SWIY's question, but he does know that darvocet does not include the same active ingredients that most prescription opiates have... Many other opiate based pain medications use codeine hydrocodine or oxycodone. Darvocet uses dextropropoxyphene. Swim would assume that the differing active ingredients certainly have something to with the difference in PAWS.

Re: Any Swiy Have Experience Specifically With Darvocet (Propoxyphene)?
yeah, the most useful info swim can find on it is a general "it's not an opiate, but structurally related to methadone". swim has never detoxed from methadone, hence doesn't know how paws feels after methadone detox.
swim highly doubt this has anything to do with it but, the only other thing swim can think of is, if his math is correct, the apap he was ingesting because of the darvocet was around 7,800 mg a day, and he knows the max apap you're supposed to ingest daily is 4,000. swim is at a loss to comprehend why this is happening, he didn't have paws this bad after he detoxed from close to 200 mg oxy daily. Leftöver Crack added 8 Minutes and 5 Seconds later... btw darvocet is cake to get off of, especially compared to true opiates swim has detoxed from. it's just the after detox that is crippling swim. Re: Any Swiy Have Experience Specifically With Darvocet (Propoxyphene)?
Swim has read darvocet is an analgesic in the opiod category[opiate] that is mild like codeine and can have large amounts of apap.Swims doc wouldn't let him go over 2000 mgs of the apap, toxic to liver.Guess if you took large amounts of it you would withdrawl from it.

yeah, the days/nights swim got to the 8,000 mg apap, it was like speed but not fun. swim also thought he was losing his mind until it wore off. NOT recommended. problem was you can't use CWE on darvocet, doesn't work.

Re: Any Swiy Have Experience Specifically With Darvocet (Propoxyphene)?
Darvocet does not "build up" in your system any more than most opiates metabolized in the liver via p450, except in the case of people on certain medications or history of liver damage. Also, I read that a small group of the population has a deficiency in p450 enzymes, but in all these cases, you would probably know already if you did because you would have problems metabolizing opiates and other substances. In other words, unless drugs seem to effect you in extremely small amounts, and for twice as long as expected, don't worry about it.
The only thing you should worry about with darvocet is the tylenol (acetomenophen) because more than about 6000mg a day is toxic to the liver. Darvocet can have 200mg or more of tylenol. If you have pure propoxyphene without Tylenol, you don't have to worry. One thing, darvocet, like ultram and other opioid can cause seizures in large amounts due to sodium channel blocking effects and lowering of seizure threshold that results from this, as well as interactions with non-mu opioid receptors. These seizures are more prevalent with ultram, and are almost assured with a higher dosage. I hate this garbage, I don't know why anyone would take other than desperation, or mild pain. |

Re: Any Swiy Have Experience Specifically With Darvocet (Propoxyphene)?
darvocet is wierd......................it must be the combined NDMA antagonism of the drug with mu effects that make this the best opiate to taper with. a dose of it will hold you longer and better than a dose of hydrocodone (not as euphoric OBVIOUSLY!) but it does work and the wds off it are nothing toooooooooo much. still sucks but it really does work. I was honestly dropped myself from 20 hydros a day to 1/4-1/2 a darvo 2- 3 times a day and I got off for over a month.
but the beest way to quit is just do it: CT |
