Kava-Kava extract Q’s

I would like to try smoking kava kava but all I can get is an extract of60mg kavalactones in a gel cap. My question is will smoking the extract powder have the same effects as smoking the raw plant?


And does anyone know a good oraldosage that will give noticable effects without risking liver damage?

Kava taste like shit.I threw away about a quarter pound(what was left over out of a pound once I had enough)*of the raw ground root material.* It does give a nice xanax like buzz, but it is not worth*enduring the nauseating taste and the messy ass preperation process.* Fuck the raw material.* You can feel it working ass it*numbs your throat, but every time I drank I came closer to hurling.* I have also taken several different capsules, and even the most expensive ones where a motherfucking rip off.* Edited by: BA

Yea I've smoked a bowl of the powder and it did taste like shit with no effects, made my bubbler taste likeburnt plasticfor a few days too . And as far as oral effects goI've only noticed minimal feelings of relaxation off of 4 -6 Kava gel caps....

So my conclusionis Kavaextracts suckand if I want to bother with the stuff I should lookon an online smartshop of some sort? Am I right, or am I using the extract incorrectly?

What do you people recommend?

I tried getting the powder from Kava gel-caps, and then mixing it up in the traditional way with coconut milk. I also added soya-lecithin. My mouth went numb but there were almost no psychedelic effects. I didn't get sick but overall was very disappointed and haven't bothered again. I did a pretty hefty dose as well.

I've tried the 70% kavalactone paste and thoght it sucked, might work for totthaches since it numbs your mouth in a similar fashion to coke, but I never got any significant effects from it. It says on the jar "2 pea sized servings for one empathogenic experience", I've taken as much as 6 pea sized servings with no strong effect. The only effect I got was a slight increase in body-temperature, no relaxing, no euphoria, nothing.


Maybe I'm just too accustomed to substances which have a definite effects, or maybe I'm immune to Kava.


P.S. I actuallythought it tasted kinda nice.

I buy Kava Kava extract from a vitamin store around here. Not sure on
how much kava is in it, but about 10-15 droppersfull make me feel so
relaxed and comfortable. Takes away my anxiety, too. Mmmmm.

It takes me a full bottle(30) of kava kava pills to get me feeling really good.

it is kind of good in a herb tea. the effectsif anything are verymild sedative intoxicant that doesnt last all that long. obviously it onlyjust does works well for some people, its supposed to be harmfull in large quanitys to people with liver disorders theFDA issued a waring about itEdited by: dr ACE

I'd just like to mention that after ingesting a lot of Kava Kava(3-4 times the recommended dose on the paste) for 3 days, I felt pain in my eyes when trying to focus on objects close to my eyes. This went away a few days after i stopped using it.

You can't smoke or snort kava. Won't work.



The best kava experience is the traditional way, a water suspension
using natural whole root powder, just like it's done in the islands.
And yes, it is not the best tasting stuff in the world. But one
can aquire a taste for it, after one comes to appreciate the effects.



Anyone else wants to throw their kava away, mail it to me instead.
