Salvia Spores?
swim's little container of about 1/3g of salvia divinorum was opened for the first time in three weeks and about 5 tiny green spores have grown on a section of it. the spores are white strands with a tiny green ball at the end about 1/4mm in diameter. at first swim assumed it was some sort of mold, so wasn't sure how safe it was to use, and decided not to do it until he found out if it was still safe to smoke.
his initial thoughts were that it was probably still safe, because he figured and germs would be killed by the intense heat of the butane torch lighter he was going to use, but then it occured to him that perhaps it was the plant actually growing? he read that salvia spreads by breaking and forming a new plant, and that no seeds are used to reproduce, which would be consistant with the growths on the herb. so, is the salvia still safe to smoke? thanks. bemmis added 584 Minutes and 22 Seconds later... really? only i have this issue? Re: Salvia Spores?
Firstly, please remember to swim. Even though salvia may currently be legal in your area it is forum policy to not speak of personal use because we can't very well verify where everyone is located.
Also please post in the appropriate forum. I have moved this to salvia forum where it belongs. Never heard of such before myself. The plant produces seeds but they are rarely viable. In order for it to spread the top heavy plant becomes buried and branches off from the stalk as far as I know. I would imagine it would need more than leaf shake in a bag so it sounds rather suspect to me. I'd say why risk it when your pet can just get some new leaf without such possible contaminants (probably preferable to go through a different vendor IMO). |

Pictures?
I've never heard of such a thing, but if it might not be mold someone might be able to tell by viewing it. |

Re: Salvia Spores?
right. yeah i'll do my best to get pictures up. unfortunately the only vendor within driving distance is the local pipe shop, so unless ordering it were a possibility i think that store is the only option. also, the salvia they sell is rather expensive (purple sticky) and if i had the choise i wouldn't have even bought it because it's not really worth the money, but as long as there is some left.... (self-incrimination is ok in this thread because i already spilled the beans...?)
