Basal signaling of mu-opioid receptor signaling in opiate dependence

Published: 2004

This study uses pharmacological agents such as naloxone and naltrexone to further elucidate current knowledge of the neurochemical activity underlying opiate addiction. Both naloxone and naltrexone elicit severe withdrawal symptoms in opiate-dependent individuals. Certainly an interesting read if you're wondering what part of the brain is responsible for opiate cravings.
