How to gain experience when buying marijuana ?
What up SWIMMERS. SWIM recently quit marijuana and is doing OK, craves the hell out of it tho.. but he thinks he will be fine in a few weeks or so
![]() Anyways, in SWIY's experience, how would you know you're getting a quality product. Sure, you can tell by looking at it, the strong smell, the crystals and then take your dealers word for it, if he tells you it's something good. For example, SWIM knows this dealer that SWIM bought weed from. Each time SWIM would buy weed from him, his dealer would have something else. So, let's say a dealer tells a customer he's selling him a bud of purple haze. If SWIY is unexperienced, how do SWIY tell if you got some good bud like purple haze, or some midgrade shit. When SWIM was smoking weed, he would call his dealer and ask what he has. His dealer would say he has sour diesel... or if he doesn't have sour diesel he would have skunk #1 or white widow, or purple kush, but SWIM believes his dealer is full of shit. The last time he bought weed from him, he told SWIM he has purple kush. So SWIM went and bought a q. of an ounce. Does SWIM think it's in fact purple kush no. SO THIS QUESTION BASICALLY IS FOR THOSE that are the elitest cannabis users, how can you trully identify what SWIY is getting so people won't get ripped off by their dealer. |

Re: How to gain experience when buying marijuana ?
Short of a DNA test, there is no way "truly identify" the strain, but SWIM suspects SWIY already knows this. I think this is SWIY's answer.
Grow it SWIY's self or have someone SWIY trusts grow it. |

Re: How to gain experience when buying marijuana ?
The only real way is by having experience. Just do what SWIY mentioned, check the color, the smell, the crystals, the texture... If it's all there then it's good. There isn't some sure fire way to tell if something is a certain strand or not, but someone who smokes a lot can usually look at a sack and tell the quality.

SWIM knows the quality of the product as soon as he takes a sniff and a quick look, OsCarwild hit the nail on the head.

Re: How to gain experience when buying marijuana ?
Swim thinks visiting the Netherlands was a good way for swim to get a better grasp of marijuana varieties and their qualities. Apart from direct experience with various types of all different grades of marijuana its really hard to guage quality accurately.
Usually swim never pays any attention to what street dealers label their weed - unless they grew the weed themselves and got there seeds/clones from a reliable source or know the grower they are probably just repeating what their dealer told them or are making up the names themselves. But Incidently "purple haze" in swims experience is a very mild strain. |

Re: How to gain experience when buying marijuana ?
SWIM agrees with whats been posted before, experienced smokers can tell if its good or not pretty easily, but id-ing a specific strain is almost impossible, and never believe a word your dealer says to that end unless they are very close to the source.
SWIY can usually tell if it is indica vs. satvia or a mix however, as indica will be denser and 'skunkier' smelling while satvia is less dense and sweeter smelling. When smoked (if it is good quality) the difference can usually be felt as well, with indica giving a more 'couch-lock' high and satvia giving a more active, cerebrial high. different specific strains do have different specific effects (if they give you munchies, etc.) and when SWIM is bored (or procrastinating more likely) he will go through catalaugs or other references of strains and try to match the effects and description with whatever he has, and has actually had some success with this method, though you can never be sure. |

Re: How to gain experience when buying marijuana ?
texture, compact but soft or crunchy breakable. A strong aroma and thick colour. The more kinds a person sees, handle, and smokes, the more a person gets to familiarize themselves with the differences. A good trick is to grab a small leaf, or crumb out of the bag of purchase, and just hold it on your finger tip and scorch it with a lighter. If it has a presentable distinct odor that should wrap it up for the sale, unless of course those people share a smoke out of kind gesture.
