Cannabis terminology

SWIM and his lady are debating what certain mj terms mean.

"Skunk" (is this a negative or a positive label in describing weed?)

"Kind bud" (is this a specific type or species of weed, or is a general/broad term for great quality weed?)

Thanks!

Re: Cannabis terminology

"Skunk" is used in a variety of means, technically it is a specific strain of weed, known for its skunk-like smell. SWIM has heard it used with negative connotations but it has also started to be used as a label for modern, powerful strains by some press, especially in the uk.

SWIM hasnt heard the term "kind bud' before, and just scanned through a few catalogs and didnt see a strain with that name. SWIM would assume its a general term for weed that gives a pleasnt high but dont know for sure.

Hope this helps!

Re: Cannabis terminology

SWIM says Skunk is some real good-smelly shit.
Kind Bud is also used for high quality buds.

Re: Cannabis terminology

Skunk does technically mean the strain, although it's a little doubtful to swim that it is a professional strain and not just ordinary chronic.

Kind bud is a term for measuring potency (such as schwag, mids, chronic). Kind bud is usually a high quality schwag, but might be mids.

Re: Cannabis terminology

Skunk most of the time will be your high quality sativa strain buds.
it'll be compact and have alot of red hairs and crystals.

Kind bud is most likely gonna be your shwag or sleeper weed.
Most of the time it'll be Indica because the effects are more mild.

Re: Cannabis terminology

Skunk usually refers to hydroponically grown weed - weed grown like this tends to be quite strong in contrast to outdoor weed - depending on strain/climate/etc. Skunk although not a technical term is a slang term for "good quality or strong weed usually grown indoors" which the British media have hi-jacked to put a negative spin on marijuana use.

Among marijuana culture skunk simply means good weed - among those who get their information from the mainstream media skunk is associated with mental illness/trouble making. Anyone else remember the " Cannabis-Killer " headlines from the UK? What a load of crap. Some guy murders a child and the media decide to use this as an attack on "psychosis inducing skunk" - trash journalism.

Re: Cannabis terminology

SWIM tells me he finds it funny how simple slang terms change depending on who uses them and where. Around here he says "Skunk" refers either to the strain, or very smelly very strong cannabis. "Kind bud" he has heard referring to quality cannabis, no matter the strain.

"Fire" "Dank" "Chronic" all mean more or less the same as "Kind" in SWIM's experience. And he says that a strain referred to by any of these terms may or may not actually have a reasonable amount of THC, as different folk smoke different potency cannabis, so ordinary run-of-the-mill cannabis for one smoker might get called "kind bud" by another...

Re: Cannabis terminology

Around swim's parts, skunk usually means its just smelly weed (and can even smell a little bit like skunk and pine needles) but normally smelly weed = good weed anyways.... NOT ALWAYS!!! but most of the time
