Ecstasy and the immune system


"Ecstasy" may contain varoius compounds, such as as amphetamine. But it's well known that pure MDMA have immune modulating effects by itself1. By modulating it may improve some functions, such as the TH2 response, while other things may get worse, such as the TH1 response. Which is very much involved with fighting "new infections", such as an influenza or similar.

How has SWIY reacted to ecstasy? And does SWIY think this mostly has to do with "unpure" tablets, possible dehydration, the environment SWIY was in, or perhaps an unnormal high acitivy level for a prolonged period...?

SWIM has only had two negatives experience on MDMA, and has been using it for several years now.
SWIM always makes sure to be in the company of people who know what they are doing, the proper amount to take...and know WHEN is WHEN....
SWIM's negative experiences came from taking 125 mg of mollie...it was SWIM's fault however because there was alcohol consumed earlier in the night...which obviously caused dehydration. SWIM has also taken an "unpure" tablet...2 yellow Motorolas in NYC last summer....SWIM felt very flu like and was sure the pill was cut with something that created a not so delightful result.
So, only when SWIM has been an idiot has SWIM had negative responses.

My raver friend has never experienced any physical malady as a result of using ecstasy or the activities engaged while rolling.

But it is worth noting that there's the general wisdom around ravers I know that it's awful for your body to roll while sick and for the most part people adhere to the principle.

About 13 months ago swim was hospitalized for five days with pneumonia. Two weeks prior to being admitted for treatment swim attended a rave where he consumed appx. five ecstasy tablets containing MDMA/amph. Swim danced 'til about 6 AM and completely destroyed his body (dehydration, exhaustion, excessive smoke inhalation, etc.) Swim got sick (cold/bronchitis) the days following and went to his general practitioner to get some antibiotics. Long story short, antibiotics didn't work and when swim went back to the doctor he took x-rays of the swim's lungs and literally said "Holy shit! you need to go to the hospital!" Swim has never been in worse pain in his life. He literally felt like he was going to die. Swim was given IV morphine 2x daily at the hospital because the pain was so bad.

So yea swim has had a severe infection that could be related to MDMA use. Swim also wants to add that he normally has an extremely good immune system and rarely gets sick.

Also, swim does not blame MDMA for this experience. Swim only blames himself for not respecting his body.

Swim never had any problems with MDMA use. Have to say that the quality was top and its been a long time ago.

Swim sometimes gets mouth ulcers, but thats it.
