UK - busted with Meph and PV

swim was recently busted with small ammounts of Mephedrone and MDPV both purhcased from reliable "trust worthy" sources. When swim recieved the indictment form the police with charges he is being charged with possesion of Methamphetamine instead of Mephedrone
and Pyrovalevone instead of Methylenedioxypyrovalerone. The spelling of pyrovalerone was'nt even correct show how ignorant the authorities are regarding these substances

It would appear obvious that the anyalsis is flawed or is it possible that these chemicals were not advertised as what they where supposed to be?. from swims understanding METH is stronger per does and much longer in duration to MEPH. Swim is trying to get the the compunds re-analyzed but not sure if it worth the hassle probably would cost allot more than a simple test to prove exactally what the chemical is

Is it possible that the preliminary analysis was conducted using only a qualitative method?
Perhaps a false positive of sorts? I suppose it comes down to how much time and money SWIY can spend rectifying this possible mistake.

SWIM had some mephedrone that came express mail get held up at the post office and they wanted SWIM to come down and sign for it. SWIM did not do that and it 'went away', SWIM hopes, (it's been 3 months).

SWIM brings this up only because as mephedrone could be considered an analog to methcathinone (schedule I controlled substance), maybe a charge of possession of methamphetamine (schedule II) might not be so bad in comparison.

If possible, check with an attorney on these matters. One who has experience dealing with these sorts of things.

I am from the UK, my friend said that if you get caught with mephedrone here, even if they certify it is mephedrone you can still get a criminal record for something, i'm not sure how true this is. I would like to know if someone can clarify what happens if you get caught with it in the UK. I've put my question in here as it is sort of related. Can British police correctly identify mephedrone against other stimulants such as the mix up above.

So i am sort of relating to the OP, what was the punishment of being charged with methamphetamine and pyrovalevone? I understand your OP is from a long time ago, so really, i'm just looking for an answer to my question

mephedrone is very closely related to methcathinone, an illegal drug, so swim imagines it could show a false positive for that.

If SWIY bought from a company, then email the company and ask them for a GCMS. Use the invoice that SWIY must have received as prove that SWIY was acting in good faith and could not have known that it was anything other than mephedrone and mdpv.
