Method of Ingestion Can Change Pharmacodynamics?

SWIM noticed that when he ingests temazepam (Restoril) orally the sedative effects are much more pronounced, causing him to pass out. However, when snorted intranasally, there's minimal sedation, and SWIM experiences primarily very potent hypnotic and anxiolytic effects.

Does method of ingestion alter binding sites for benzodiazepines?
