Opinions - Help Before SWIM Gets Hooked Please?!

SWIM was never a cigarette smoker and the 2nd hand smoke always bothered him. One day SWIM decided to steal one of his parents cigs just to try it. SWIM smoked it and felt the crazy nicotine buzz but didnt feel hooked, decided to smoke cigs to top off his marijuana highs or mabye just smoke one at night before he goes to bed. SWIM's brother (an addicted cigarette smoker for 5 years) told him thats how he started and that SWIM will be hooked on them pretty soon. SWIM realy realy enjoys smoking them after a high, or just one at night after a long day. Any suggestions to avoid getting hooked without haveing to quit in all? Thanks in advance to whoever answers


PS: To clear things up, SWIM almost never smokes more then 1 cigarette a day, and doesnt ever have cravings for them.

SWIM started the same way (smoking just when high or drunk) and then eventually it turned into an everyday thing. The difference between SWIY and SWIM though is that SWIM smokes 20-30 bowls of weed a day and usually had about 5 smokes a day when he was just starting.

If SWIM sticks to just the one smoke a day SWIM is sure SWIY will be ok but just to be sure take a couple days out of your week, try smoking less than one a day.

Tell SWIY to play a little game: see how long he can go without wanting a cigarette. This will yield information to see how much this habit has formed. Realize that SWIY can always go back once the game is over but give the game an honest shot and see what happens.

Thanks alot, SWIM finaly got a few answers around here. And RaverHippie SWIM will actualy try that game starting tonight (even tho he was about to smoke his nightly cig). Any more opinions/advice will be greatly appreciated.

Yeah it takes much more than that to become addicted. SWIY just needs to set some times that he can smoke, like after getting high or at parties. And as long as you don't find yourself wanting to smoke outside of those times you are not becoming addicted.

Don't ever buy a pack of cigarettes. If swiy never buys a pack it's pretty tough, or even impossible maybe, to get addicted.

SWIM is under the age of 18 at the moment so he cant buy packs yet, but SWIM's brother said once SWIM is 18 SWIM will be buying them and smoking them a pack a day very quickly. thanks for the advice tho everybody

Before you get banned for being underage, the best advice is to not start smoking in the first place. It offers very little to no high at all, a disgusting and costly habit, and really offers no benefits. Red Rock wishes he had never started

Alf was a heavy smoker for 19 years, stopped nicotine 121 days ago and concurs: quitting is a nasty bitch. Alf has known hundreds of smokers and just one really able to control her smoking. And that person was generally not addictive personality, never abusing any drug. And SWI steve is already cannabis user. Beware of nicotine - it is insidious, highly addictive and very hard to quit. What's more, it is very costly, very toxic and the high it offers is much below average. Wished Alf has never smoked the first one.

SWIM knows a few people who smoke tobacco with their cannabis and do not smoke cigarettes. SWIY best bet would be to NOT SMOKE ANY!!
