1,4 bdo and pancreatitis

Swim has had several bouts of pancreatitis due to excessive alcohol abuse. He has quit drinking for about a year now and occasionally uses ghb recreationally in place of the alcohol. If his supply of ghb ran out and wanted to substitute 1,4 bdo for it, does anyone have any idea if the bdo will have an ill effect on the pancreas since it too is an alcohol?

Re: 1,4 bdo and pancreatitis

The fact that it is an alcohol doesn't mean much (GHB is also an alcohol), but there are lots of reports that 1,4-BDO is very toxic. I can't find any conclusive scientific evidence, but I would strongly advise against it.
