Lol thats some strong guts you got there sitbcknchill. This stuff deffinately rolls down hard. Most people just mix down really heavy to get it down lol. Reminded me of a time way back in university when the boys were spittin mouthfuls of the stuff onto lighters they held in front of their faces to make fireballs. One guy let some trickle to the back of his throat and started puking. That was one firey, pukey mess that shot out of his mouth
. Anyway I DONT RECOMMEND THIS. A bunch of drunken frat boys hopped up on 151 shooting fireballs out of their mouths can be dangerous lol. Not to mention alcohol poisoning and all that. It was a funny sight tho.

I once drank a little plastic party cup (about 8 ounces) of straight
151 with no chaser. I hadn't eaten dinner, and promptly blacked out withing the hour. But I like the flavor of it, didn't need a chaser. Needed a cheeseburger :P<!-- var SymRealOnLoad; var SymReal; Sym() { window.open = SymWinOpen; if(SymReal != null) SymReal(); } SymOnLoad() { if(SymRealOnLoad != null) SymRealOnLoad(); window.open = SymRealWinOpen; SymReal = window.; window. = Sym; } SymRealOnLoad = window.onload; window.onload = SymOnLoad; //--> |

I'm not familiar with 151. Is it rum? What percentage and how available is it? Although the legal drinking age here is 18, sometimes they require you to be 21+ if you're buying heavy liquors. Not a law, but more of an liquor store rule.

I had some shots of this recently, if I recall correctly. This stuff was damn EASY compared to the almighty raki.
But your description reminds me of ouzo, which always takes my breath away for a good while. Well, if you can't get it down too well straight... just mix it. Try stuff like red bull (my favourite mixing drink) or anything else in reach. Always works. Or beer as a chaser of course, like sitbcknchll recommends. |

The most mind-blowing legal alcohol I've tried is a Swiss drink called Kirsch (not sure about the spelling). Very harsh taste and it's rated at 70% vol. I was tipsy after a single shot of it and it usually takes about three or four shots of whisky just to get me going.
Best alcohol though, has to be Irish moonshine or puitín as we call it. It's made from potatoes or turnips and can actually make you hallucinate slightly if your stomach can handle it. It tastes awful however, but you can get intoxicated off it by just inhaling it. |

I remember my friend was giving me drinks of 151, and it was the first
time I had it and had no idea it was so strong. Ended up getting wasted and passing out next to the john. |

Hehe, that stuff has led to many crazy nights. It's one of my favorites cause I can drink it straight without a problem. It also mixes very well.

for new years at my house i had 8 shots of 151 with no chasers. the first 4 shots my throat hurt like hell but after the 4th u could barely taste it and the "roughness" would go away real quick.... 151 really messes you up. long story short i had sex with one of my friends (unintentionally) on that night...we woke up shocked not beleiving what we did the night before. Bacardi 151 proof. Yeah, it's rum. 75.5% alcohol. It's available at every liquor store I've stepped foot into. Oh, and I'd rather drink gasoline than 151. |

Many brands of absinthe have an alcohol content equal to that of 151 rum. I'd rather drunk absinthe than 151. At least with absinthe I get more than drunk, I get psychoactivity as well. And there's no real rationale for having 151 rum or other high-proof alcohol, other than to help alcoholics get a buzz on faster, or get more buzzes out of the same bottle. Or for Marines and other young people to dare each other to drink it. It's definitely not as enjoyable or tasty to drink as a good quality 80-proof rum, not matter how it's mixed. There is a good reason why absinthe is high proof. It is needed to keep the wormwood essencial oil in suspension, so that the liquor in the bottle looks clear and pleasing, instead of cloudy. I don't know too many people who would drink absinthe straight. Usually it is diluted in water or 7-UP, at least 3:1 dilution. And as soon as it is diluted it clouds (they call it the loach). This cloudiness is caused is the wormwood oil coming out of suspension, because now the alcohol content has been lowered by the mixer. Edited by: BrugmansiaBrujo |

I have taken straight shots of absinthe, but never would I be able to sit there and just drink a cup of it like some can.

I have been told that putting a little bit of butterscotch
schnapps/liquer on top of a shot of 151 wil help to coat the throat and make it go down smoother (and taste better) but I haven't tried this personally. There is a story that my dad told me about when he was in the USAF there was a night that he was drinking shots of 151 with rum and Coke chasers... the people that he was with told him that later on in the night they played basketball, but he has no recollection of this .I love absinthe ... when I was in Mexicoon my senior trip after I graduated high school was the first time I found it... my last night there I had 3 double shots of absinthe at 60% alcohol and then went on to consum a number of tequilla sunrises that I can no longer recall. My second encounter with absinthe was the bottle that I bought in London and brought back to the states with me. I drank most of that bottle in the "classis" water and sugar mix way, but on my very last glass I found out that absinthe mixes very</span> well with Mountain Dew (IMO). I would say that I would pick absinthe over 151 rum... but then again, when it comes to rum I prefer spiced rum to any other... Captain Morgan has been my good friend many a time .<!-- var SymRealOnLoad; var SymReal; Sym() { window.open = SymWinOpen; if(SymReal != null) SymReal(); } SymOnLoad() { if(SymRealOnLoad != null) SymRealOnLoad(); window.open = SymRealWinOpen; SymReal = window.; window. = Sym; } SymRealOnLoad = window.onload; window.onload = SymOnLoad; //--> |

Anyone ever hear of "Everclear"? Evidently, you can only buy in Indiana and it is stronger than 151. I've never had it but I would think that anything stronger than 151 might burn a little going down. I think the package claims it is flammable.

151.... Yarrrr.... In my first year of college, all I
really learned was how to drink this stuff like a pro, though my composure afterwards wasn't always so dignified. Coming from a very alcoholic background, my tolerance is something disgustingly high. (I don't say that to be macho; I would much rather be a lightweight and have a fifth last me more than one night...) But yeah, apparently I disappeared during my last experience with 151, only to be found passed out with my head nearly in the toilet bowl after drinking about 11 shots of the stuff. Bad times. But to the question, Everclear is 95% alcohol, and the strongest stuff you can buy, though it is illegal in many states. |

How about a recipe for that stuff? Sounds like absinthe kinda. Do you think its the turnips that give it that extra kick? |

Everclear is 190 proof, but they also make a 200 proof versiont hat
many places dont carry. It's very useful for cleaning/disinfecting. I dunno what everyone else is talkign about. I like the taste of 151. of course, i take shots of everclear without chasers, and that gives me no problems. Oh, and I'd never drink gasoline in place of 151. I've drinken shots of ether, and trust me, you dont wanna mess with much other than alcohol. <!-- var SymRealOnLoad; var SymReal; Sym() { window.open = SymWinOpen; if(SymReal != null) SymReal(); } SymOnLoad() { if(SymRealOnLoad != null) SymRealOnLoad(); window.open = SymRealWinOpen; SymReal = window.; window. = Sym; } SymRealOnLoad = window.onload; window.onload = SymOnLoad; //--> |
