cocaine addiction, does it always lead to smoking?
i am wondering because my friend uses cocaine sometimes, not too often but i started thinking what if my friend starts smoking it. i have a feeling that snorting it isn't as dangerous as smoking yet still bad, and well i want to know if some people can just snort it (even a major addict) and never smoke it, atleast enough to get addicted to smoking it.
does cocaine use (sniffed) always or lead to smoking it and eventually get hooked on smoking it? (for some people) mainly, i am worried my friend might start smoking it some day nitrogen added 0 Minutes and 40 Seconds later... sorry what i typed didn't really make sense haha but you get the picture nitrogen added 10 Minutes and 27 Seconds later... another addition, my friend has a VERY addictive personality and i am worried that he will end up smoking it Last edited by nitrogen; 24-03-2009 at 11:44. Re: cocaine addiction, does it always lead to smoking?
Most of SWIMs friends who use cocaine do not smoke it nor inject it. For some crazy reason (lol), SWIM was the only one in his circle to take it to the next level.
Now, sometimes the whole friend/friend of a friend thing gets a bit confusing. Especially if one is really talking about a friend. So, with that said... If it is just a friend, might SWIM make this statement. Most people as far as drug use is concerned, have an imaginary line that they will not cross. The more one becomes 'comfortable' with the use of a drug, the shorter the line has a tendency to become. For some, this line disappears completely. Many factors play a part in ones ability to leave themselves some uninvaded doors so to speak. Such as; personality, environment, brain chemistry, previous drug history, and much much more. Basically this was just a drawn out way of saying that it is almost impossible to predict the future of a friends drug use. If said friend happens to be a close personal friend (such as the person who didn't write the above post), then it may be just as difficult to predict a pattern of future drug use. From a mathematical standpoint, this equation just has a few less variables. No one can predict the future with 100% accuracy. But sometimes the future can be reasonably estimated by looking at past behavior and events. A good rule of thumb is... If one is concerned about an undesired drug use progression, then perhaps one truly has a reason to be concerned. Last edited by electrolingus; 17-04-2009 at 01:32. |

Re: cocaine addiction, does it always lead to smoking?
smoking cocaine hcl is stupid. if it's freebased than that'll make sense. (correct me if i'm wrong on the hcl part, and please tell me what cocaine freebase is) it'll lead to injection if anything.

Re: cocaine addiction, does it always lead to smoking?
Here in the UK, it seems that the vast vast majority of coke users wouldnt even think of shooting/smoking crack/freebase.
SWIM knows alot of coke users and although they do get into addictive circles SWIM doesnt believe that this is a case like heroin where 'everyone starts of snorting.. but they all end up injecting in the end'. SWIM knows perhaps 30 regular coke users and none of them shoot or smoke and I doubt ever would. Coke use is very normal in my community but if anyone was to shoot it or smoke it everyone would be like WOAH!. It seems that in the UK crack and coke are seen as completely different drugs even though they are obviously not. |

Re: cocaine addiction, does it always lead to smoking?
most people have a perferred way of administration of coke , and usually they wont do it any other way, not all but most.
Crack smokers won't shoot or snort coke shooters don't snort or smoke coke snorters won't shoot or smoke as a rule |

Re: cocaine addiction, does it always lead to smoking?
SWIM used to only snort coke and never would have dreamed of injecting it until he started injecting heroin. He injected coke before ever smoking it. What SWIbeentheredta stated above is usually the case. Especially for snorters, They usually don't progress to other methods of use unless they are readily exposed to them. SWIM has found that most who inject coke will smoke it if base is all that is available but hardly ever regress back to insulfation.

Re: cocaine addiction, does it always lead to smoking?
You can never say "always," but it definately happens. Depends on lots of things: curiosity, the crowd the person hangs around, availability of powder (rock is sometimes more easily available, I've heard), know how, mood, etc.... Tread carefully.

Re: cocaine addiction, does it always lead to smoking?
Well in swim opinion yes said person will eventually end up smoking. They reason swim thinks this is because after consistantly snorting it, it will start to hurt said persons nose. After a while snorting can be ruthless on the nose..
This is the problem swim is dealing with now.. Snorting just plain hurts no matter the quality.. Rocking it up has let swim enjoy his habit. Also saving some money. Less teeth grinding.. Bad news is that swim seems to try to catch that damn dragon. |

Re: cocaine addiction, does it always lead to smoking?
oh thanks guys haha, this post was a long time ago before swim went sober
been clean since Nov 1 now, and ya swim was foolin himself when he didn't think he would start smoking. he didn't want to admit it, yea if swim keeps doing coke he WILL start injecting it, he's positive of this, this is one reason why he went clean thanks though but maybe this post will help others, just saying i don't do drugs anymore

Re: cocaine addiction, does it always lead to smoking?
I don't think this question has a definitive answer. SWIM smoked before snorting (at 16) but it is not even tempting. On the other hand, SWIM's brother has smoked for 15 years and wouldn't ever snort (he thinks it's a waste).

Re: cocaine addiction, does it always lead to smoking?
SWIM snorted yack for 15 years, only smoked crack maybe 50 times in those 15 years. However, the very same day he was taught to IV heroin he was also taught to IV coke (Thank you, helpful friendly person
) and he hasn't blown a line since. To him its easier to go back to snorting from smoking than from shooting. But remember long term snorting isnt risk free either, SWIM is working on his second septum.
