USA - Notify Electric Co. of electricity-hogging medical equip?

So, recently Lizard was prescribed a piece of medical equipment that's a fairly heavy power draw. It's designed to be used during sleep, so it gets ~8hr use daily. On top of that, he's been using his oven more frequently, too, all of which adds up to a lot more e-'s per month.

Lizard obviously doesn't want any (unwarranted) concern that he's growing, so should he notify the power company of the medically-necessary equipment? This would also be handy should he ever fall behind on his utilities. Anyone know the procedure involved?

Most power requires notification of medical equipment for life support, oxygen, feeding systems. In case of outages you are first in line for repair. Plus in falling behind on payments, they will make arraignments.
