Alcohol in the media.

During television programmes we often see characters drinking alcohol and maybe our idols drunk in the newspaper.
Do you think that the media gives people the message that getting drunk is a good way of life?

Re: Alcohol in the media.

Nah, usually being drunk is used to show someone going to the dogs; think of the parody in Team America where he’s sick a million times. Casual drinking is shown just to introduce a bit of reality to scenes. It’s pretty hard to make alcoholism look desirable.

Come to think of it, it’s hard to think of many films/shows that have a positive view of constant boozing. Withnail and I is the only one that springs to mind.
