Thumbs down Dr. said Suboxone and wrote Oxycontin WTH!! Option C, it is then.

Was supposed to start suboxen this past week, went in and saw new Doctor. She looked at my MRIs then felt neck and had me stand sideways, backwards etc then felt chest and said that my spine was degenerating terribly and while she understood my desire to no longer take narcotics she could not in good conscience do that as suboxen would not provide enough pain relief to meet my needs. What?!!!!!!
She said my chest was colapsing into itself, I was developing a hump on my upper back?, and my neck vertebrae looked like a ladder that had been pushed forward and it was drying out my remaining ( non herniated) discs. I told her, I will suffer the pain, I just can't suffer the w/d, she would not hear of it. So I say, well, can I have a minor narcotic, like vicodin, it's like the baby aspirin of narcotics, ya know? I can wean off Vicodin. Used to be on 120mg of Oxycontin and 6 4mg doses of Diluadid a dayShe was like "oh, know you need to be on Oxycontin, or a high dose of Oxycodone at least and some Valium to relax those muscles, they are like rocks. F#$% it, if no Dr will help you get off the Opiates what do you do? I tried to w/d from Oxys, I would rather die.

The only thing that relieves all symptoms of w/d is a drug that is not legal for use in humans, it's super dangerous and can only be found on large animal farms or vets. No not Ketamine, it's called Xylazine. It's about 100x stronger than Ketamine. Swim's spouse thought was same as and did 1cc. Was out for 2 days, hallucinated some but basically comatose. Swim took .02 cc and if taken IM takes about 10 minutes then you feel drunk off your butt for awhile then are asleep for exactly 2 hours. This is the odd part, swim's spouse later tried .02cc was out had exact same experience drunk w/out feeling sick then out for to the minute 2 hours. Strange thing was, though a bit lethargic.....NO opiate withdrawl symptoms at all ever.

Did some research and people are cutting H with this so they nod and think it's great H Well, they are killing people because they either don't know or don't care how strong it is. So please, please be careful of this drug. It can bring down a large wild animal and .01cc will put a human to sleep for awhile. They even castrate horses while under from this med so be aware and beware. I know what it is like to want off opiates so bad you'll try almost anything.

Blessed Be

From wikipedia:

Quote:
Xylazine is a drug that is used for sedation, anesthesia, muscle relaxation, and analgesia in animals such as horses, cattle and other large (non-human) mammals. An analogue of clonidine, it is an agonist at the α2 class of adrenergic receptor. As with other α2 agonists, adverse effects include bradycardia, conduction disturbances, and myocardial depression. Yohimbine (Yobine) and atipamezole (commercial name Antisedan) can be used to reverse xylazine effects. In veterinary anesthesia, xylazine is often used in combination with ketamine. No formal information in humans available. Xylazine is sold by Bayer under the brand name Rompun.
Also seems to have two liquid preparations of different concentration:

Quote:
Preparation: Sterile injectable liquid packaged in 20 ml vials with a concentration of 20 mg/ml, or 50 ml vials with a concentration of 100 mg/ml.

Re: Dr. said Suboxone and wrote Oxycontin WTH!! Option C, it is then.

Thanks for the heads-up with Xylazine and that it is used for the cut...........
It seems your doctor maybe has not been OKed to prescribe Suboxone or the drug rep hasn't provided enough kick-backs to the doc to make it worth her time to prescribe it?Who Knows.................With that said, did swiy just walk out with the script for Oc's without asking your doctor what her treatment plan was going to be for you?A taper plan, rotation of your pain meds,or did she say "Go home and take some horse tranquilizer"
Sorry, swim doesn't want to be a ass about it but what would you like to do?Sounds like you have alot of physical problems, and could get better treatment from your doctor first........talk to her.
If that does not work, find a doctor that treats with suboxone.
Find a pain clinic in your area, there are alot of them in "Misery" ,one that treats with narcotics but also uses other treatments for the patients pain control, and also teaches you to live with your physical pain on a day to day basis.
Swim is a chronic pain patient and relies on a completely different mindset to live with pain, self control with medications, releasing thoughts of taking opiates as a "moral failure".......................and a ton of other things that take almost all of your thought process, and is very taxing on your mind.
******Please swim is no saint******* and does overdo it.................
But please lay off the animal medications and find a doctor that can help you get you to a place that you want to be and are comfortable, pain free and able to live a active and fulfilling life................

Sorry about the ranting post, and swim is prepared for any corrections/opinion's that may be posted...................

You seem to have a legitimate need for pain killers. Why not simply take them?

Re: Dr. said Suboxone and wrote Oxycontin WTH!! Option C, it is then.

Seems like waytofertile is frustrated, having to be stuck on pain meds, and not feeling that well..............either because of the medication is making you feel like crap...or your physical problems(pain) is not being controlled properly...........
Swim could be wrong....
Being on pain meds 24/7 sometimes sounds like "your living the dream"...But swim knows that mind and body need a break from it once in while, and it can be taxing on the brain when you wish you didn't have to take it....or withdraw from it to get to a point where you head is clear...........................
............................................
OR you are running out of your meds early,by taking to much, selling them or sharing them with a friend, family member,or spouse.....
Aside from the reasons above swim for the life of him can't wrap his head around smiy need for jackin' up with horse tranquilizer

BE SAFE

Re: Dr. said Suboxone and wrote Oxycontin WTH!! Option C, it is then.

next time swiy goes to see the doctor, ask for a referral to go and see a pain/dependence specialist. general practitioners know next to fuck all compared to the specialists.

swim remembers her old specialist saying he was treating a little old lady for pain relief (she had cancer), with a stupidly small dose of buprenorphine. however, obviously this wouldnt work for swiy, because she has a dependence.

swim recommends that swiy opens up to the doctor and is honest about the spouse. at the end of the day, swiy's husband is contributing to swiy's withdrawals, because he is dipping into swiy's supply(?)

swim understands that swiy might get upset by some of the feedback from DF members, but just remember we are not wearing rose coloured glasses, and we can only go by what you tell us.

the main points of concern for discussion with your doctor are...

-referral to an opiate specialist (who deals directly with pain relief and dependence).
-admitting the spouses involvement- or at the very least arranging to pick up scripts in smaller amounts. perhaps if swiy had to pick up 4 or 5 days worth at a time, she might guard it better/use it more wisely.
-admitting you have problem with opiates. (presumably one would think they know, but this needs to be reiterated as its a topic of major concern for you).

damn girl. your husband has to go to detox, or do something to change or this is going to continue on for as long as you let it. having six kids doesnt make things any easier, especially if swiy is dependent on the spouse for an income, etc.

swim really thinks you mean well, but also cant help but think swiy's spouse is holding you back.

if swiy doesnt mind swim asking, how old are all the kids, and do you have them all in your care?
