Seroquel - I need alternatives.

So, I was recently prescribed Seroquel by my doctor for my insomnia, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. Many years ago, my goldfish took this drug for recreation on a regular basis, and he had little problems with it until he took an incredibly high dose at school and ended up turning white as a ghost and passing out in gym class on the floor; he discontinued taking it at that time.

Now, recently I was prescribed and was told to gradually increase my dose, so I started out at 100 mg. It wasn't doing much for me at that dose, so I decided to take my max recommended dose of 400 mg. It wasn't good.

I found myself extremely tired (which was the desired effect), but I suddenly found myself overwhelmed with fear and I was experience intense CEV's and bad auditory hallucinations. I wanted to sleep, but I was too scared, and I ended up turning on all the lights and keeping focused on my televison until these effects wore off.

I used to take diphenhydramine for my sleep, and doses as low as 150 mg would make me experience vivid hallucinations. Normally, even when I'm not on drugs, I experience somewhat vague hallucinations (shadow figures) when it is dark and I'm looking into the darkness.

What should I suggest to my doctor next time I go in for my insomnia? I want something that will make me tired and take action quickly like Seroquel, but I don't want it to fuck with my head.

rozerem works wonders for SWIM as a sleep aid, but SWIY could ask for ativan as it helps with anxiety and causes sleepiness/

Re: Seroquel - I need alternatives.

Swim has also taken seroquel recreationally and as a sleep aid but now he is nprescribed trazadone which is just as effective, from swims perspective, of putting him to sleep. It is also used for anxiety and depression problems so this may be one of the drugs to mention to swiy's doctor.
