Any Suggestions??
Would of posted in Chem Scetion, however nobody seems to repsond there, less viewers SWIM guesses
Anyway
Firstly SWIM filtered off the MS like usual so had 8ml of water with approx 160mg of MS suspended in it.
Put on the stove at the lowest heat (in a ice cream spoon) and stirred, for approx 5-10 mins. When SWIM thought the temp was hot enough SWIM added the Calcium H, however it was not hot enough and the CH just rose to the surface, SWIM tested the PH and that had not changed. SWIM then boiled the kettle and poured a couple of ml into a seperate pot, then added a small amount of CH to this, which diisolved. This was then added to the main spoon which topped up the MS/ CH solotuion. The PH was taken and it seemed to have worked the PH shot up to approx 10-11, using the strips. This soloution was then gently heated for a further 15mins roughly. Was then filtered to get rid of all the excess Calcium H that was present, using a basic pippette and cotton ball technique..
The filtered soloution was then evaporated using a hair dryer on low- med heat. This took approx 1/2 hour and then SWIM was left with the final product.
This was scrapped up and to be honest looks very small for the initial 160mg put in, it looked initially like a sticky, brownish material, certainly not a powder more a residue like substance.
Anyway has dried this morning and there is still, obvisouly, a relatively small amount so SWIM cant help thinking that some has been burnt off or wasted during the process.
If any tips can be given greatly apprectiatted as when SWIM can do this then its all uphill from there!
Peace
