Does smoking cannabis resin really get you high? Does it actually contain any THC or is it all usually burned beforehand when smoking the weed? What are the risks of smoking the resin compared to the risks of normal pot?

SwiM's red fox knows a lot of people who smoke resin, and they all claim that they get really high on it, but it seems to the fox as if this would be unhealthy and pose a greater cancer risk. The fox knows that the resin contains a higher 'waste' content which contains among other things, benzopyrene which is known to be carcinogenic. Also, resin is lit longer and hotter than cannabis is and that seems like it would cause some high-boiling point carcinogens to become gaseous and therefore inhaled.

Foxy would appreciate some scientific answers, something other than "yeah swim smokes resin all the time and it gets him hella high".

In swim's area it depends entirely on the resin. Shit rocky is just that, brown and disgusting, but if you come across a soft piece of pollen you're in for a treat. The accociated health risks are probably due to the risk of smoking boot polish and melted plastic, this varying degree of excess material would also count for the uncertain amount of THC. It's inevitable that some have smoked entirely waste or at least mostly waste and therefore not gotten high, it's swim's opinion that this has lead to a myth that resin doesn't contain THC, whereas scientific studies have concluded the amount of THC in resin (someone posted it on this forum on the last resin thread).

Hm sorry, what about smoking boot polish and melted plastic?

Foxy uh isn't sure that resin contains any of the compounds in either of those :/ Maybe if he was smoking out of a pen or somethin Can swiY please elaborate on that?

swim has no wy to actually test for canninbinoids in resin but he can say from xpirience that smoking resin does indeed get him quite high. however, it also has a much higher tar content that buds and is thus worse for the users health. also he finds headaches are alot more commonplace when smokign resin. scraping his pipes is reserved for times of emergency for these reasons haha.

Oh haha that's just generally the common stuff they put in there, swim knows this personally as one of the bastards forgot to melt a piece down, literally a shard of acrylic in swim's resin.

To add a bit of clarity here, resin means different things on the 2 sides of the Atlantic. In the USA it means the oily residue & crusty gak left in a bowl & stem of a pipe or bong. In Europe & elsewhere it means hashish.

I'd go so far as to say that calling the residue resin is, well, just wrong & misleading.

This forum is the only place I have ever come across resin being used to describe anything other than hash, & extensive googling brings up no references to resin as anything other than hash in this context.

SwiM's Fox is talking about resin, as in the sticky remains obtained from scraping a pipe. It thinks swiY is thinking Foxy meant hashish, which is (unfortunately) not the case

SWIM has smoked resin a couple times in the case of emergency (like stuff from the bowl scrape). he got pretty baked. it tastes like absolute shit and therefore reserved for emergencys. SWIM got a grinder and uses kif (thc power) for nothing else so he sometimes makes a resin ball to block the kif from falling down into the pipe. and then packs a large bowl of kif on top. NOW THAT! is the highest he has ever been. one full bowl of kif = amazing results. SWIY should try this

SWIM also smokes resin in desperate times. A thorough pipe scrape yields a good amount of smokeable resin. SWIM thinks that it doesnt get him as high as normal bud and is tastes terrible but gets him high nonetheless. SWIM doesnt see any it as any more of a health risk really. One isnt adding anything to whats there, its just burnt up bud with some THC remaining
