Home Made Silencer -- HELP!

So I over heard this guy talking earlier..

He said he had a nitrous tank and that he built a
homemade silencer for it

He began by stuffing a 2" wide PVC pipe full of
polyester fiberfill (the stuff that goes inside pillows)

He then attached a series of PVC reducers to the end
of the pipe so it goes down to a 1/2"

He used LO-V.O.C. primer and PVC cement to attach
the pieces of PVC

He said the silencer STINKS like the primer/cement
and that if he fills a balloon using the silencer it tastes
toxic.

He built the silencer only a day ago. How can he get rid
of the toxic stench/taste and ensure that the silencer isn't
dangerous to use????

Edit:
I could describe this guys silencer more in depth
and probably even find a picture of it if necessary.

This guy is probably really worried that his silencer,
which cost him almost $40 to build, is dangerous to
use!

Re: Home Made Silencer -- HELP!

The toxic smells/tastes are likely due to the solvents in the cement evaporating out. This can take some time but will probably take a bit longer than normal because of the polyester fiber reducing air flow, SWIM would say if it was left on a warm surface like a radiator (heat will aid evaporation) for 3-5 days the taste will be almost completely gone.

Pictures and a better description might be of interest anyway. SWIM has not seen a TEK for a nitrous silencer before (If SWIY has got the TEK from another forum , please don't link to it as its against the rules, but copying it and referencing the poster on the other forum is fine) . If its y0itsj0hn's own idea even better!

Out of interest, is this silencer to fit onto a big nitrous tank or a dispenser which uses the 8g/16g whippets/nangs/caps?

Peace
Geezaman

Re: Home Made Silencer -- HELP!

Another way to make a silencer for a tank is as follows, and much easier. SWIMs friends have used this method on tanks ranging from 5 to 80 pounds and report success every time.
SWIY will need:
2 empty, rinsed and dried out 20 ounce soda bottles, same brand/size
An old t-shit SWIY doesn't want anymore, make sure it is clean
Scissors
A fuckload of duct tape.

Cut each soda bottle in half right around the middle.
Discard the bottom pieces, keep the ends with the opening, and place them side by side as if trying to combine them into one.
Take the t-shirt and stuff it into the soda bottles, cutting off excess material if need be.
Duct tape the soda bottles together with the t-shirt inside
Take one end of your 2-headed soda bottle and put it over the release valve on your tank (the place where the gas comes out) It will fit over it but not exactly. Duct tape it until it fits and the seal is airtight, then duct tape the entire contraption (not the tank itself, the silencer) to ensure no leaks.
Place ready-to fill balloon over other end of silencer (other soda bottle opening), turn nozzle on tank, fill balloon and enjoy, repeat as necessary.

Re: Home Made Silencer -- HELP!

Ahhh. SWIM gets it now.

This would also be brilliant for tanks intended for auto use that are fitted with dip tubes. The dip tube means that liquid comes out of the valve when open rather than gas. Obviously putting a balloon onto tanks with dip tube fitted automatically freezes and pops the balloon.

Re: Home Made Silencer -- HELP!

SWIM has been in dire need of a silencer. Believes she will go with the T shirt model as she does not want to huff solvents. Your knowlege is much appreciated. Thanks for sharing!

Anyone know the answer to this? If N2O is a anesthesia is using it considered huffing? I dont know if I should feel dirty or not.

-Do the soda bottle method but use polyester instead of a tshirt (read my last post)

-Don't huff just inhale from the balloon then exhale not into the balloon

-No reason to feel dirty

Re: Home Made Silencer -- HELP!

if you don't think it's dirty, then why even ask? It's all up to you as to what you find "clean" and "dirty" drug use.

Re: Home Made Silencer -- HELP!

Thanks y0itsj0hn for reminding SWIM she is inhaling not huffing. She has problem with the connation for the term "huffing" Realizes dirty and clean are just perceptions. She will enjoy her ballon with out feeling bad about it.
