I do hope I haven't dragged you into this thread under false pretences, but I'd like to solicit opinions about what people think about the advisability of my cat taking LSD.
First off, my cat has lots of LSD experience, so this is not about the advisability of a first use. My cat has had some very intense experiences on acid, but last took LSD about 15 years ago. Although dose-wise the concept of a trip is vague, he took 17 trips one night just over 20 years ago, and had a particular "spiritual experience" (one of many) that remains seminal to this day. However, most of his later LSD use was marred by his being a junkie. So fast forward to the present day. We see our cat about 5 months off all drugs and drink. He does Zen meditation daily, and is just reawakening his love of life. He sees all drugs as anathema to him, except LSD. So, does anyone think it would or could be beneficial for the cat to take acid. Bear in mind the cat has a wife (misses pussy-cat) and a 2 year old kitten. Cat is not concerned overly about mental health effects. Cat has rebuilt his ego from scratch often enough to know that any psychic battering that LSD gives will not be dangerous in that way. Cat is not all that interested in the trip per se. Cat has done a lot of trips, although ages ago. One thing he always liked about acid is the after-effects, where the world seems cleaner and brighter. The stage where one is putting oneself back together again; a born-again feeling. Chances are all but certain cat won't do this. However if some really convincing reason is given, he'd consider it. Cat tends to think conventional spiritual practice is the way forwards. I'm just wondering what others think. Dickon |

Re: Would my cat benefit from long-term from LSD use?
Swim thinks it could be revealing, awakening, and positive..However..
Does your cat think he could moderate the use? As in, not jump to another substance and become dependant on it? Swims ex is buddhist and often takes LSD and meditates for hours, he says that the experience is enlightening, so swim could see how it could be positive but swim thinks with your previous addiction that you need to be careful with ANY substance.

Swim thinks that because you are on the right track now heading in the right direction there is not much point doing something which might help but which you might regret, especially as you don't need the help.

Re: Would my cat benefit from long-term from LSD use?
Red Rock has found psychedelics to be tremendously beneficial for him pre and post recovery. However, like Joe-(5-HTP) said, if one is already finding life great right now, why mess something up that is already working great. Then again, it might not mess up anything and could actually enlighten your cat. Red Rock thinks one should give it some deep thought and at least wait until they have about 9 months of sobriety before they do it. After 9 months, then reconsider all the ramifications of taking LSD and if your cat things it will benefit him, then by all means, tell your cat to partake in it

Re: Would my cat benefit from long-term from LSD use?
It is a lot better then heroine or methadone... Swim not that experienced with LSD last time was about 5 years ago and the dose was low, the higher doses were about 10 years ago and microdots being the best trip ever for him !
Don't think that LSD is addictive and in swims opinion totally different then most other drugs.. And wont be used on a daily bases. So yes, if your cat is looking for something to open its eyes again. Not saying that its good to take anything.. But your cat is old enough to makes its own decisions. |

Re: Would my cat benefit from long-term from LSD use?
You should go read Be Here Now by Ram Dass. He covers quite a bit of this.
You'll be courting a demon, but shit, demons get things done. LSD can be an amazing way to clean out the mental sluices, a good tripp every six months or so can do wonders. But if it doesn't work, whats your next step? To try it again? How many times are you willing to try it again? Will you stop when it becomes apparent that LSD is no longer doing what you need it to? 5 months isn't much, you should give it some more time, really let things settle in, spend more time reading and thinking. You'd be surprised how easy it can be to put something like this off, and trust me, that may be for the best. Have you tried taking up a spiritual practice? The Golden Dawn offers an easy set of daily and less frequent practices that can be fit into any belief system, sometimes all you need is a little ritual in your life. There isn't anything drugs can do you can't do with out drugs. |
