Comedown - GBL Hangover

SWIM was a GBL addict for about a year, but has managed to get it under control. SWIMno longer takes it 24/7 or to sleep. Some days SWIM takes it to get over hard obsticles or to give me a kick start. SWIM also take it when he goes out clubbing. The problem SWIM has noticed is that he now gets a hangover from GBL. When it wears off he gets a very dry sensation over his head together with mild paranoia which makes him feel irritable. This wears off after an hour or so. SWIM dares not sleep on GBL anymore or he gets strong withdrawl effects in the morning- heavy anxiety and paranoia that begs him to take more G to get rid of it. Alas, he stopped it and now take other meds to sleep if he needs anything at all. I'm just curious as to why SWIM gets these sensations now when he is coming down off G. It is almost as if there is a physiological difference in his brain now that makes him react differently. The high is pretty much the same, but the dry, barren, slightly paranoid hangover along with a mild headache after makes me feel horrible. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know what the causes could be? At first I thought it was the dopamine rebound but I thought that was meant to be pleasurable, and why does it make SWIM so irritable now when he never used to feel a thing? Any help would be very much appreciated!
