Hydromet??

My dad was just prescribed a bottle of hydromet(Hydrocodone/Homatropine Syrup) because he has bronchitis. It has 5mg hydrocodone, 1.5 mg homatropine in a tsp. I saved about 2 tsps of it because my friend is thinking about taking 2 tsps to see if it has any recreational use but i just read online that the hometropine can have some nasty side effects if you try to use it recreationally and on the back of the bottle it says to just take 1 tsp every 4-6 hours. I was woundering if there is anyway to extract the hydrocodone from the homatropine, like seperate them maybe? and also does swim think that taking two tsps of this would have any bad side effects, especially since my friend does not have Bronchitis?? thankz.

Re: Hydromet??

An anticholinergic alkaloid obtained by the condensation of tropine and mandelic acid having anticholinergic effects similar to but weaker than those of atropine; used to produce parasympathetic blockade and as a mydriatic. The hydrobromide salt is used topically in ophthalmic drops and the methylbromide derivative is used orally for intestinal spasms.

Homatropine is used to deter overdose or overuse.

QDPRN added 5 Minutes and 25 Seconds later...

Homatropine is added to prevent hydrocodone abuse. Is there any way, such as cold water extraction to salvage the hydrocodone from these pills?
A: No. No way to separate the two without a sophisticated chemistry lab.

Re: Hydromet??

Do you guys think SWIM would get sick from the Homatropine if SWIM were to take 2 tsps even though it only says to take 1 tsp on the bottle? SWIM's tolerance for hydrocodone is very low so SWIM could probly get a good buzz from just 10 mg of it.

Re: Hydromet??

This is just a guess, but it's very very unlikely that double the dose would make you sick.

If the threshold between it not having any effect vs getting violently ill was 2X, there'd be some serious product liability issues.

Re: Hydromet??

yea i kno that but the syrup also has other stuff in it.
"Hydromet Syrup is an anticholinergic and narcotic cough suppressant combination. The anticholinergic works by drying up secretions and the narcotic depresses the cough reflex in the brain."

Re: Hydromet??

It'll probably cause a dry throat then, but that's nothing to be majorly concerned about. Hydrocodone itself kinda does that too.

Drink plenty of fluids with it

(Again.. swim's totally guessing here..)
