Weed affects your muscles?
Hi.
As SWIM didn't find an answer for his question, he's gonna ask once more. Does weed makes people skinny or affects their muscles? When SWIM was younger he used to work out and his body was kinda nice, but then SWIM started smoking weed every day and got skinny and his muscles almost dissapeard. Now SWIM can see his bones and his muscles are very small, much smaller than they used to be. Some people say that weed doesnt make people skinny but 90 out of 100 SWIMS friends are skinny... Maybe they're not very skinny but they have NO muscles at all... and SWIM can see their bones on their arms through t-shirts or whatever. They do eat a lot but still they're skinny... SWIM doesnt smoke every day now and started working out again, but even if he smokes once a week he gets skinnier and skinnier every time he smokes... SWIM is getting frustrated because he doesnt want to look like a skeleton but he thinks he's going to. Of course weed does make SWIM wanna eat but he still gets skinnier... SWIM doesnt know what to think about it.. Some people say its a myth but SWIM can see that weed made him skinny and almost all his friends that smoke weed are skinny... Is there any SWIY that has the same problem as me?? |

I read somewhere that cannabis can inhibit the creation of testosterone but apart from that I don't think it makes much difference directly.
Indirectly, however, lying round getting stoned not doing much can lead to an unhealthy lifestyle of not eating well and not exercise regularly. |

Swims friends are the same including myself. We are all skinny. swim believes you get the muncies once every smoking session and then no more. So if swim was smoking all day he would really only have one meal and then maybe snacks.

Swiy and friends probably are "skinny-fat". Bodybuilders/powerlifters/athletes use this term for people who are thin but have little muscle mass. Building muscle mass is a process and most stoners do not get enough physical exercise in with a proper diet.

Not at all, If anything, I've gained muscle mass (walking to get munchies) and body fat (munchies)

Well you're only 18. You probably haven't filled out yet. Enjoy it while it lasts. Within ten years you might not be able to munch without remorse. As far as marijuana use and testosterone loss go, I think that's another drug myth at best. I've heard of studies that demonstrated a short-term reduction in testosterone production during heavy use but this does not have a lasting day-to-day effect unless one smokes really potent bud all the time. And even that wouldn't last due to tolerance.

He doesnt want to be big like body builders at all..
SWIM wants to be fit, he wants to be skinny and have some muscles and ripped abs. So if SWIM would smoke once a week and regulary go to gym and be on a diet, should he be alright? |

Keeping SWIY's body fit and eating healthy shouldn't really be too much of a problem, so long as SWIY has the discipline stay fit when not stoned. SWIM's main concern with smoking is keeping his respiratory system in check

Swim smokes everyday an can say from personal experience weed has no effect on anabolism/catabolism. What that means is pot will not build muscle or breakdowm muscle tissue. In the unexperienced user pot will effect estro/testo levels ever so slightly, slightly increases estrogen production not even close to being significant and returns to baseline once the initial high has worn off. In the habitual user pot will have even less effect or none at all on hormone levels

Even then, the biggest factor of weight loss is due to your caloric intake and your breakdown of marconutrients(Protein, carbohydrates and fats) Calories eaten vs calories burned is what governs weight loss. If your eating junk food your not gonna gain or even maintain muscle. You need to be eating quality foods like steak chicken, fish, nuts and get quality carbs like whole wheat breads, oatmeal, baked potatoes. If your eating the typical stoner diet, i.e candy potatoe chips, snack foods, fast food..., one of three things will happen depending on your metabolism, you will loose muscle, get fat or maintain what you have. When SWIY were noticing muscle loss were you even going to the gym working out? Where you getting 4-5 solid meals? Were you running or walking long distances. Sorry but SWIM just have to laugh about SWIY worries of muscle loss with mj. I suggest you visit a bodybuilding forum to get acquanted with things like what diet you should be on, training styles and when your ready, supplementation. Try the forum Anabolicminds plenty of info there to turn you into a hunk of man. |

Michael Phelps smokes weed; I doubt it has any substantial effect when taken in moderate amounts.

When swim was in high school (forever ago), he smoked weed almost daily and also played football for the school. Swim's experience was that as long as swim worked out in the weight room (enrolled in a weight lifting class every semester for elective credit) and practiced, he experienced a gain in strength and stamina.
Swim realizes it may be possible that swim could have had better gains if he didn't smoke weed, but he doubts it. He is no doctor though. These were just his experiences. Good times. -Yetti. |

I don't know about mass but I believe it is a mild muscle relaxer, so marijuana does indeed affect your muscles.
