swim has recently seen people flavoring their weed by sticking them in a jar or water bottle (any enclosed/ air-tight area really) and then sticking a scented car freshener like strawberry or blueberry into the jar with it and then letting them sit for about a week inorder to let the scent eventually seep into the bud. it makes the trees smell and taste amazing and the smoke looks a little more greenish and a little more thick and moakie. is this a health risk? are there too many harmful chemicals in the fresheners?

Re: Flavoring your weed?
SWIM keeps his weed in packs of clove cigarettes (half weed, half cigs) to mask the scent and has found it influences the taste a bit, hadnt heard of using fresheners like that though. SWIM wouldent think that SWIY would have to worry about chemicals since it seems you are meant to inhale the fumes from the fresheners anyway, but SWIM could be wrong...
SWIM might have to try it though, sounds interesting

Re: Flavoring your weed?
a bit of orange or lemon peel can also impart some citrus flavor (and moisture) to weed. swim usually prefers the weed by itself, though

Re: Flavoring your weed?
SWIM still means to try leaving slices of ginger in his bud filled baggies for exactly this reason. SWIM found putting ground up weed in the plastic tubes some blunts wraps come in would take on what ever flavour the wrap was meant to be.
SWIM thinks he would prefer to keep things natural and not flavour his bud with chemical based products i.e. air fresheners. He might look into diluted food flavourings, these after all are intended for human consumption even if not via the lungs ![]() Peace Geezaman |

Re: Flavoring your weed?
A number of Glade products have been shown to cause cancer, so it's safe to assume that any chemical-based scented product--be it room spray, car air fresheners, perfume/cologne, or anything else--is not good for humans to be exposed to. Add to this the unknown effects of burning and inhaling these chemicals deeply into the lungs along with cannabis smoke and you're asking for trouble. SWIM strongly, strongly advises against this.
Some people add dried fruit peels to their pot during the storing/drying process, but this can lead to mold. Even if you can't see it, mold begins to grow on anything with any amount of moisture within 48 hours and can be especially harmful if smoked. If SWIY insists on flavoring SWIY's weed, try flavored papers or some of those flavored drops added to a joint or bowl. Health first, pleasure second! ![]() |

Re: Flavoring your weed?
Nobody has a drawer in his dresser called the "treasure drawer" - various forms of treasure go in there - coins, precious metals, gems, incense, cannabis and other smokables, along with empty plastic baggies, and so on. Anyhow, from the many years of containing cannabis and Nag Champa, the drawer has taken on a very distinctive (and very pleasant) smell. Nowadays, any cannabis which is stored in this drawer for more and a couple of days takes on a subtle, but lovely incense smell, which really complements the smell of the cannabis fantastically. It was entirely accidental, but has worked out very well.

Re: Flavoring your weed?
I just thought of something. People keep cigars in cedar boxes, or in metal tubes in a cedar wrap. Perhaps one could experiment with containers made of all kinds of wood. Cedar, cherry tree, sandal wood, etc.

Re: Flavoring your weed?
Some air fresheners can apparently cause adverse reactions to asthma sufferers (although as far as I'm aware nothing too serious). I agree that if someone wanted to flavor their stash to use natural products. BUT remember that just because its natural it doesn't necessarily mean its any safer than synthetic chemicals.

Things can burn in weird ways that you don't know and damage things on the way down.

Re: Flavoring your weed?
Swim would try mixing their bud with a very small amount of incense or incense oil. Not only does it add flavour, but these substances are meant to be inhaled, so they should theoretically be much less toxic than air fresheners.
Flavoured rolling tobacco works well too, if swim likes his/her joints rolled with tobacco. |

Re: Flavoring your weed?
Swim used to buy a product called sheesha from the local headshop and mix it in with his weed. It came in all flavours imagineable and was supposed to be used for smoking out of a hookah evn though swim would pack half weed half sheesha bowls and it tasted good. Sheesha is flavoured tobacco that originated somewhere in the middle east around Europe i think. They orignally smoked it for its cooling properties in the hot desert.

Re: Flavoring your weed?
Shisha does taste great, the only problems with it are that it burns *much* slower than bud and the shisha flavour usually overpowers the weed.
To smoke weed from a hookah, Swim suggests mixing the weed with the shisha several days prior to smoking it. That way the weed has a chance to absorb moisture from the shisha, giving it a similar consistency to the tobacco. Otherwise the weed in the bowl will be completely consumed before the shisha even starts burning. |
