How do you chase the dragon?

Swim has shot heroin hundreds of times and tried to smoke it a couple times but never really thought anything of it because he was always satisfied with just shooting it. Swim would like to get an explanation on the best way to "chase the dragon" without wasting any heroin and going about it the most efficient way. Please describe in full detail what Swim would need, how long it takes, if he needs a certain type of lighter, what to do with the foil....etc. Thanks

Re: How do you chase the dragon?

If SWIM wants to maximise the gear usage SWIM would use fairly good standard foil, fairly thick. Foil comes in different thicknesses like skins (would u believe!) and the thicker the better SWIM finds. Also, you want a decent lighter, one where SWIM can adjust the flame down to a low setting. SWIM doesnt want to frazzle the gear. Remember, SWIM is trying to inhale the vapours not burning gear. Eventually SWIM will have to burn the gear when it;s towards and all the goodness is gone. Basically the gear actually shrinks as it evapourates rather than just burn into ash. There will obviusly be a bit of ash at the end but SWIM should have vap'd most of it away slowly.
People have differnt ways of doing it. In London it seems that people 'run' the gear up and down the foil fairly erratically, just moving it along the foil as they chase. In Ireland people do 'lines' where they do basically the same thing, but they run the gear in neat lines across the foil. That's not a blanket rule obvioulsy but not a huge generalisation either.

Basically put a bit of gear on say 4"x4" bit of foil, light the lighter underneath it until it turn to liquid being careful that it does not boil or sizzle/frazzle. One it is liquid hold the foil at a slight tilt so the gear run down the foil. Relight the lighter if you feel it needs to be a bit more runny but again do not let it sizzle/frazzle. Using a clyindrical pipe, like a rolled up note* or soft drink straw* inhale the vapours that come off the back of the gear as it is running. Hold in the smoke as long as possible in which time the gear will have solidified. Repeat the process until the gear has all evapourated and the remnants have burned off.

*if you use a rolled up piece of foil as a 'tooter' or pipe it can later be unrolled and the residue on the pipe can be smoked. It might sound a little worthless but trust SWIM, if u have used that pipe alot and SWIU took a look inside the pipe SWIU would not be throwing it away

SWIM hope that helps.

Re: How do you chase the dragon?

SWIM picked up his method of chasing the dragon by watching how other people here in Phoenix AZ do it.

SWIM tears off a square of foil, not sure how big, just a square like... the size of a wallet maybe? maybe a little bigger, not really sure how to describe it.
SWIM holds the dull side facing up and burns the shiny side with his lighter. SWIM isn't sure why, apparently it has something to do with making the foil healthier to smoke off of. Its just what he was taught.

SWIM takes a little piece of tar and rolls it into a ball with his fingers and places it on the dull side of the foil, near one of the corners. He places a cut piece of bic pen in his mouth and holds it above the piece of tar. He holds the foil at a little bit of an angle so the piece slides.

He lights underneath the piece with his bic lighter. This is the trickiest part in SWIMS opinion because SWIY gotta get the hang of how far to hold the flame and stuff like that. SWIM usually holds it so the flame doesn't quite touch the foil. He'll chase the piece around the foil from one corner to the next, like a square.
Eventually the piece spirals into the middle so it looks like... a square spiral I guess would be the best way to describe it.

Depending on how SWIM lights it, it may leave "Trails" that SWIY can go back and smoke too. Basically if the trail the piece leaves behind is shiny/golden instead of black and ashey looking, SWIM goes back and holds the lighter under the trail and gets another hit.
