Experiences - Codeine trips feel like they have 2 parts

Anyone else notice this? SWIM tells me the first half of the trip is more of a physical thing, very sociable, quite euphoric and buzzed, then the high becomes more of a psychological one, lots of daydreams, getting tired but still happy.

This is the biggest reason why SWIM likes codeine for him.

Anyone else get this?

Yup. absolutely agree. I have exactly the same experience with codeine.

Cool, nice to know it's not just me, is there any real scientific reason that we know of for this or does it just "happen"?

Swim finds that the first part of his trip is accompanied with intense sociability, elation, and general happiness. He would described it as a toned-down MDMA high, except a bit more relaxed. He finds music to sound fantastic.

Come to think of it, Swim is experiencing this currently, and the trance tracks he is listening to in his $300 headphones are making his skull tingle with pleasure.

Anyway, Swim also knows that the second part of the journey is far less enjoyable, but still excellent. He finds it very easy to get work done during this time. He also likes to go for long, spirited drives with the wind blowing in his hair. He stops for a cigarette at nice vantage points. Strange, I know, but satisfying.

Anyway, Swim definitely understands what you mean and he thinks you're right on with the "2-part" theory.

SWIM doesn't know which part he prefers, to me the 2nd "part" is definitely better than 'far less enjoyable as the 1st part', if that makes sence, but he's glad the trip does contain both parts

Swim understands. The second part to Swim is far less intense, almost like a little buzzy happiness.

Perhaps Swim needs to up his dose for an even more pleasant second portion of the codeine journey?

SWIM thinks it could depend on the location of your trip as to which part of your trip feels better?

Out of complete curiosity what is SWIY's normal dose?

Location? As in, what Swim is doing at that time?

Swim's normal dose is around 200-250mg. He is a 160lb male. He usually enjoys CWE'd codeine once per week (occasionally twice).

Maybe take a 2 week break and see if that helps, but swim thinks it probably has to do with where you are on your trip and whats happening around SWIY.

Cool, maybe Swim will try mixing it up next time. I think I may try another CWE dose tomorrow during the daytime (I rarely do that) and maybe be social with people, run errands, etc... will see how I enjoy it.

What is your general routine (for both parts)? Any favourite activities/settings?

Well SWIM found a good setting was in the afternoon for him for the reason normally him and a friend had the codeine, got on the train with more friends for the very sociable stage, and then walked around a quiet town SWIM lives in and talked, sometimes with another friend, by this stage we all just found places to sit down and daydream.

It's funny SWIM did this because he didnt notice how codeine had 2 stages until after this, but it seemed to be the perfect way to use it without realising lol, only as he is writing this he is realising how perfect it is for codeine.


He finds the trip has 2 stages in any trip, but its just it worked out great he had more people to talk to in the sociable stage and a great quiet setting for the quiet stage. Swim knows you probably cant have the same setting as him, but he thinks you might have a similar setting to try it at.

For SWIM codeine trips has 3 parts not only 2.Firstly she feels quite euphoric and it lasts around 20/30minutes then she gets really calm (before she gets an addict she felt completely sleeping.Then when effects get disappeared she is sleepy then she has kinda "panic attacks" and she belived there are some ghosts in her room and she could hear mid voices from her pillow.She wakes up and can't sleep anymore for many hours and smetimes she is hungry.Then she ends up to sleep.

I'd expect codeine to be experienced as biphasic.

Codeine has both its own activity, as well as being a pro-drug for morphine. The enzymes in one's digestive tract turn a certain percentage of the codeine into morphine.
