Exclamation hyponatremia question

Swim was wondering how much water should be just the right amount? i know this is a hard question to answer, but any input helps. Swim was thinking about getting a Gallon and them mixing in some salt, but he wants to know if a gallon is too much, and if so how much is right? and if not how much salt should he mix in so his salt content is kept balance,

please and thank you.

Re: hyponatremia question

it depends on several factors: how long swiy is affected, body temp, dancing vs just chilling sittin around, etc. here's a good link on prevention of water intoxication---and call on the salt, just don't over-do it--try a salty snack instead if it's viable, as eating is often not an easy feat on higher doses.

sorry, added the link

Re: hyponatremia question

A very easy answer really - no more than 0.5 litre (0.5 L = 16.9 fl oz) of water an hour should suffice, even when dancing, although a little more won't hurt now & again. Remember that while Ecstasy can put strain on the kidneys that staying reasonably hydrated may lessen, dehydration will only be a problem if intense exercise is being done (dancing, for example), or if in a particularly hot environment for an extended period. A gallon of water (8 pint = ~4.5 litres (U.K.) = ~ 3.78 litres (U.S) will be more than enough.

Please don't randomly mix salt into a gallon of water then drink it - your monkey'll be sick & bloated from a possible combination of water intoxication & over-salination. As Ilsa says, the odd salty snack is good, bananas are brilliant, but only use salt itself as part of a balanced rehydration mix. Clinically, rehydration involves the restoration of electrolyte levels, which need salt, sugar & water. Too much water will only further deplete sodium levels, leading first to water intoxication & then to hyponatraemia. Too much salt will cause further dehydration. To fully rehydrate after dehydration use a ratio of 1 teaspoon salt: 8 teaspoons sugar: 1 litre (1 L = 33.8 fl oz) water. This should be sipped, not thrown back to avoid it being being, well, thrown back up!

Re: hyponatremia question

What about drinking sports drinks instead of water? Is this proven to be any more effective? Such as gatorade and the like.

Thats a recipe swim got at his work from a Doctor to help patient's rehydrate, only difference is a little cordial for the taste.

Think sports drinks are good but not sure how much better it is. Just stay away from alcohol. Swim liked fruit juices when he was taken MDMA.

Re: hyponatremia question

SWIM finds that this is one of the few cases where mainstream media hysteria is taken seriously by the drug crowd. Are you at risk of dehydration while using E? Well, are you doing an activity that would dehydrate you?

If not, put a few glasses of water on the coffee table so you can grab them when you like. You might get a bit thirsty over the few hours that MDMA acts. If you're sitting around with friends and completely forget about water... well... you may just survive. Amazingly.

If you are in an environment where you're sweating, then it's a bit of a different story. In the previous case, a few hours of forgetting to drink will leave you a bit parched. In this case, a few hours of forgetting to drink and sweating heavily could led to real issues. So don't be an idiot and carry a water bottle with you, and have a vaguely sober friend who can tell you "hey buddy, time to sit this song out and just chill with me and have some water for a bit". In short, don't get into the "trance" where you dance for 5 hours straight - take a break every hour at least to rehydrate, and if you're too fucked to be able to do that reliably, be in a situation where a trusted person can remind you.

Is it an issue? Of course. It it an issue to the level where you need to mix out a gallon jug of saline solution? Good god no.
