Swim wants opinions on the recreational value of Trazodone

My dog would like to know if Trazadone(being a tricyclic anti-depressant) would be of recreational value?

Swim wants opinions on the recreational value of Trazadone

Swim recently was prescribed 50mg Trazadone for fake reasons (had to lie about using seroquel recreationally) but Swim would like to know if it has recreational value. Swim knows many peoples opinions of downers like seroqeal and trazadone but if there is anyone like swim who likes to just zombie out for a while their input would be greatly apreciated.

Re: Swim wants opinions on the recreational value of Trazadone

well it will definitely 'zombie swiy out for awhile.' that's all my cat got from it, when it was legitimately for insomnia. worlked beautifully, except for the hang-over. it all depends on what swiy is looking for, my cat prefers a different sort of high, but it may well work for swiy. just a word of caution: old-school tricyclics used regularly made my cat a little zombied out a little too much, as in all the time. so pls research dosing!

Trazodone is NOT a tricyclic antidepressant.

Quite right, it's a triazolopyridine derivative, unrelated to tricyclics, tetracyclics, or other antidepressants.

Re: Swim wants opinions on the recreational value of Trazadone

SWIM used TRAZADONE for about 6 months, Did Zombie me though.

Good side - helped SWIM reduce DIAZEPAN useage, then gave it up without any serious W/D .

Still SWIM useing small amount of diazepan, but 90% less than before TRAZADONE treatment.

Recreational though - not for me

Re: Swim wants opinions on the recreational value of Trazadone

SWIM was prescribed this for mood and sleep.. she was up to 5 of the suckers and it didn't do a dang thing. Wouldn't reccomend going that high though without the advice of a doc as its potentially dangerous.

Re: Swim wants opinions on the recreational value of Trazadone

Think someone has to see whats recreational.. Swim would go for diazepam and zolpidem or any other benzo and or sleeping pill...

Swim now on 15mg diazepam and 7.5mg zopiclone daily. Not sure about trazadone but seraquel ??

Swim would like to know how much your cat likes to take when she does that

Re: Swim wants opinions on the recreational value of Trazadone

My cat likes anywhere from 200-600mg. Depends what type of day she had and how much the dogs have been chasing her. It also depends on whether or not my cat has a busy day hunting the next morning.

Re: Swim wants opinions on the recreational value of Trazadone

SWIM has been rx'd trazadone for many years for insomnia. She's supposed to take 600 mg Trazadone, 10 mg ambien and 4 mg xanax every night before bed. So maybe SWIM is just immune to the effects by now.

Re: Swim wants opinions on the recreational value of Trazadone

Swim was given trazadone by his psychiatrist to help him sleep. He took 100 mgs and it just knocked him out cold, no recreation to be had at all. Also he noticed it gave him very long, very vivid and intense dreams. This caused him to wake up several times in the night with his heart racing and dripping with sweat. In the morning he kept having false awakenings, which was pretty taxing mentally. After his experience, he couldn't really recommend it for recreation, unless by recreation you mean sleeping for a long time.

None whatsoever. Antidepressants don't have recreational value. End of story.

Re: Swim wants opinions on the recreational value of Trazodone

Afoaf takes seroquel and trazodone, he says its a hell of a combo if you want to sleep for a day or two.
another foaf also said its very individual and 100% depends on your tolerance. My friends other friend takes seroquel, trazodone, zopiclone, clonazepam, gravol, and melatonin. That gives him six hours sleep without any hangover at all he says. but he also takes Parnate(very activating MAOI) so thats probably why. He said if most other people did that combo they could end up dead so he told me never to try a combolike that. And he said the recreational value is just a anxiolytic sleep, nothing more, unless he takes like 15 gravol then he says he hallucinates.
