Drug info - How long till it kicks in? [Lorazepam]

SWIM went to the doctor to get her xanax refilled but psychiatrists are bitches n she refused to prescribe SWIM any xanax even though she's been prescribing SWIM it for weeks now. So SWIM got ativan instead. Swim's done 2 mgs so far. First dosage at 8:30 and second at 9pm. It's almost 10pm now and SWIM doesn't really feel anything yet.
SWIM used to go to the hospital for panic attacks n everytime they'd put ativan in the IV and SWIM always felt AWESOME. So chill and kinda trippy starin at the hospital lights n they seem to be moving to the left. o-0

SWIM tried the sublingual method of jus lettin it melt under your tongue. Should SWIM jus rail it? Or just swallow it? SWIM heard sublingual was the best but SWIMS not really feelin anythin at all n feels like she jus wasted 2 pills...

switching from Alprazolam (if you are used to it for a longer time) to Lor-
azepam seems to be problematic to a lot of patients. Lorazepam is
a fast acting drug when taken on a rather empty stomach. SWIM feels
effects about 20 minutes after taking it.
BTW: there is no evidence that sublingual taken Lorazepam acts faster than
swallowed pills.
if SWIU belongs to those that rely on the BD equivalence charts, then con-
sider that 0.5 mg Alprazolam are set to be equal to 1 mg of Lorazepam.
The anxiolytic potency of both substances should not differ too much, but
to some people Alprazolam seems to show slight effects of an antidepress-
ant substance.
Try to talk to your doc and explain, that Lorazepam makes you too tired
if you take the dosage that you need to take to feel alright and ask why
Alprazolam is no option anymore.

If you should get prescribed Lorazepam further, then be lucky that your
doc didn't switch you to Diazepam or Oxazepam ;-)
There are chances that you get used to feel alright with Lorazepam, just
give it one or two weeks.


I don't know how the law is in your country, but where i live a doc must
justify to the medical association when Alprazolam is prescribed for longer
than a period of 4 months.

(1 mg Alprazolam = 1mg Lorazepam)
