Mild hypnotic effects against a background of pleasant relaxation. Not primarily a bodily feeling. The anxiety percieved a few hours before is no longer present. The hypnotic effect is like a mild pyrazolopyrimidine type of drug, sonata comes to mind - not at all something like the more powerful and almost violent effects like zolpidem.

Anyhow the toll gates of the land of sleep is passed by, stamps stamped in the passport and entry allowed.

SWIM suffers from mild HPPD since 5 years, and has noted that drugs working as benzodiazepine receptor agonists often lessens the intensity of this HPPD. This doesn't seem to apply to Salvia Miltiorrhiza, - perhaps even it accentuates it in a minor way.

SWIM has come to the conclusion that Salvia Miltiorrhiza is a valuable sleep aid, helping ensure a good nights sleep. Not very strong in itself, but nice when complemented with other ethnobotanicals for example. Also nice if waking up with an alcohol hangover.

SWIM is curious about purer tanshinone I & II isolates or stronger full alkaloid spectrum extracts. Further research is warranted.
