Effects - 5HTP and Adderall

my friend has heard and read that they go very well together...is this true..?

does it add euphoria or just lengthens the medication??? or just smooths it out???

Speaking from experience, SWIM can report that these two substances go WONDERFULLY when taken together. Something very strange happened one time: SWIM drank 20mg dissolved in water, an hour later took a 100mg 5-HTP, and an hour after that took 2 Tums (2g calcium carbonate) and another 20mg dissolved in water.

Some two hours later, SWIM's entire body felt like one big, tingling nerve ending. Even breathing in and out felt incredible. The way SWIM described it to friends at the time was that his chest and brain felt the way sugar tastes. It's the only way SWIM could describe it. SWIM has tried this several times since then, but this hasn't happened since the that one random time.

SWIM definitely recommends this combination.

as he's taken the two substances separately, maybe together might benefit him. better than gettin' hooked on an SSRI too, SWIM'd imagine.

Amphetamine works by causing your brain to release neurotransmitters it has "in storage." This includes serotonin, and 5-HTP is the precursor to this. Hence it is productive to take 5-HTP before, during, or after amphetamine use in order to help replenish the serotonin stored by your brain. You can use the same principle with other neurotransmitter precursors, especially Tyrosine which is the precursor to dopamine, the primary monoamine through which amphetamine operates.

yes . swim has read reports on erowid about them going very well together. and addictive! but swim is curious on others experience.

this is so ironic!! swim was talking to her pharmacist mr. squirrel last night about 5-HTP for depression and had no expectations of recreational use. like planned, swim will be getting some 5-HTP today, and she will add her experience to this thread.

Swim tried 214mg 5-HTP with 50mg Generic IR Adderall or Amphetamine Salts IR, but swim also dosed 40mg methadone didn't notice much but did fill tingly a quite a bit but couldn't tell if it was methadone or adderall, because the both give him a tingly feeling, but swim hasn't tried since. Swim has also read some reports about 5-HTP and Adderall seems interesting swim will probably give it another try.

8:30am: 70mg Vyvanse and 100mg 5-HTP together.
9:00am: Swim had a cup of coffee.
10:30am: Swim didn't feel much difference from taking Vyvanse regularly, just not as jittery.
1:00pm: Swim crushed 30mg Adderall XR and ATTEMPTED sublingual administration but held it it for two minutes before it got squished around her mouth then had no choice but to swallow it. Luckily, there was about 5mg of crushed Adderall left, and she successfully held that amount under her tongue until there was almost nothing left (about 15 minutes). Swim learned sublingual is a LOT easier if she pushes her tongue to the roof of her mouth instead of trying to trap the powder beneath the tongue (which is what squished the Adderall all over the place. EXPLOSION!!!! hehe).
1:20pm: There was a rush of.. something. Swim doesn't even know. She just felt really relaxed, none of the usual jitters. She didn't feel much of anything but relaxed and lazy. Swim was definitely in a good mood though. Body was slightly tingly. She definitely wouldn't say it was mind-blowing euphoria.
2:30pm: Swim took another 100mg 5-HTP, not for any particular reason, just because the label said twice a day. Nothing much changed after this.
4:30pm: and Swim doesn't feel any different than she would regularly taking Vyvanse. Sober.

In summary: This combo didn't do much for swim, infact she had more euphoria yesterday when taking 70mg of Vyvanse in the morning and crushing/swallowing about 15mg of Adderall XR during lunchtime. Maybe euphoria from Adderall just works different because swim actually has ADHD. Swim did feel slight "euphoria" for about two hours.
