This was something that I was thinking about recently. Some drugs are very innapropriate for using frequently, but many that aren't so obvious change according to opinion. By casual use, I mean a couple of times a week (and I would perhaps class more than that as excessive use), so opiates could be allowed here as addiction wouldn't be so much of an issue. SWIM has been getting stoned/drinking most recently, due to availability, but both of these have a negative impact on his mental function and memory (which to him is more important that slight general health risks).
SWIM would consider the following factors ideal in a casual drug (say others if you can think of them):
- Few tolerance or addiction issues, provided that use never exceeds twice weekly
- No damage to mental function or memory at all (after the drug has worn off)
- No serious health risks
- Easy to use responsibly without overdosing
- No special situation or setting required
- Good availability
- Few quality issues
- Not overly expensive
- Little chance of losing control while under the influence
This will be interesting, because answers will differ based on personal experiences, availabilities and needs. Many people may (correctly?) believe that no drug is capable of being ideal for casual use, but this is to discuss the substances that come closest.
EDIT: Another thread I made that noone gives a shit about. I've got a few now
