How many peoplethathave occupations likeParamedics, Firefighters, Police, Doctors, ect. use? Most professionals like this have horrible working hours and very demanding jobs (except for firefighters 90% of the time... HAHAHA), yet they must maintain a glowing public image. I have heard that a lot of EMTs and Paramedics around here buy their "sleep" instead of doing it for real... if you know what I mean. I am just wondering if you think its a large number of people (obviously some do) or if my friends are just bullshitting me to justify their own meth use not being that bad.

traders and so on to that list also as they work long hours in order to
earn the big bucks. Can you imagine Trump on glass...

If any of you have ever heard the Primus song called "Those Damn
Blue-Collar Tweakers" it is all about the blue collar community using
meth to enhance their ability to work long hours. Also, it is about the
spread of meth and how it has grown into a popular fashion to do it
before working.

So yeah, i think many people use drugs like that to enhance
performance. I mean hell, most athletes use either amphetamines or
steroids to increase their performance potential and such. Obviously,
not many of them are open about it due to it being illegal (duh) and
looked down upon by the rest of society.

thats my 0.02$

Peace

With so many jobs requiring drug testing, I would think that it's not as common as you think.

I would like to object, true meth might not be the Caddy of powders, but hell the effects are longer lasting then with coke, and you dont have to worry about having some white residue in your nose while your trying to buy 50 shares of Pfizer lol. Yea meth might not be the most "classy drug" but it sure as hell is addictive, someone with some money might just go out with intents to buy some coke, and next thing you know they are smoking meth.

As a professional, I ASSURE you that the drug culture knows no
socioeconomic bounds. Meth has gained considerably more respect in
mainstream circles. It's the propaganda machine (media brainwashing)
that would have you believe that meth is confined to skid row. This is
only, of course.... until the govmt figures out a way to control and
tax it. Then it'll be at the Circle K next to Vivarin.

Ok, heres why I think athletes do NOT use meth... Meth decreases hunger and causes the body to burn muscle for energy. Athletes want to consume as much protien, fats, ect so when they work out, this energy is turned into muscle. Meth will make it very hard for athletes to consume the calories needed, as well as build the necessary muscle.

If stimulents were to be used, I would think that ephedra would be used, as it gives a bit of stimulation without the side effects above. We all know, of course, about that baseball player that died from taking to much ephedra and working out. He's the reason for why the stuff was banned for a short time. I would also think that amphetamine, not methamphetamine, would be used by some. It is not quite as hard to consume the calories needed with this stuff, and sleep comes easier.

I work in the medical feild and I have never seen anyone use speed. All the doctors I have met seem more tired than anything, with the hours they work. Meth use is something that I could point out easily, and I assure you all, none of the doctors, P.A.s, nurses, ect use this stuff. Besides that fact, people burn themselves out way to easily with speed, it's just not practical in the long run.

sands of time does have a point with the burnout issue... although I still believe a fair amount of medics use it. I mean, of course they know the risks involved, but really, if you have to go on a call in the middle of the night, you have to jump out of bed and be ready. If by your shit luck you have to transport the patient anywhere other than the nearest hospital (or if you work rural) the transport times are huge. I would think it'd be a pretty easy choice between *maybe* having some problems due to meth, or *probably* falling asleep behind the wheel and putting three lives in jeapordy.

Maybe I'm just thinking about this too hard... or maybe I just need some sleep myself...

Doctors are a strange group anyways... but what about all of the other professionals... cops, nurses, firefighters... I'm not saying they are chronic users or anything, just for that little *kick* so they get home safe

A friend of mine is a nurse at an NHS (uk government funded)hospital, and she says the weekend shift is so hectic and tiring she can't get through it unless she has a "pick me up". She uses amphetamine to stay awake... and she says a LOT of other people at the hospital do the same...

Amphetamine seems more practical than meth. Thats also alittle harder to notice if someone is on. Again, I have never noticed it, but I can't say it doesn't go on in the medical feild in general.

As for meth use with professionals, com'on some gotta use it, some
don't, some may prefer opiates, some may even enjoy the ganja to relax.
As for drug testing, there is always a way around that. I have a
friends who works a professional job and he has made friends with some
people who are a bit hirer in the ranks than him who also enjoy illicit
substances and whenever a drug test is coming down the hirer ups
secretly spread the word in advance....lol some even deal....

All im saying is no way a billionaire is going to do meth. if he wants to be
high for along time he'll just do twice as much coke. I dont know how it
is everywhere but here in Oregon, the birth place of meth addiction in the
US, meth is considered dirty. if you party enough your gunna run into
sooner or later but it is definantly frowned apon here. i did it for a few
months my senoir year in highschool. just made me sleep alot. be awake
for only a few hours a day do a few lines of chris then go back to sleep.
iv'e always been more alert and awake with oxy than i have with meth.Use
amongst professionals(doctors, etc) is different. meth might not be so
widespread but cross tops sure are. its different everywhere but thats just
my .2Edited by: oregonsavage

i agree to a point. it has definantly work its way out of the gutter into
regular suburban life, but as for really rich people i thinks that a stretch.
the propaganda machine is definantly at work. you hit the nail on the
head. i recently read articles saying it was really heavy in homosexual
clubs. they just decided to throw that one in there for good measure i
guess.it's like they're saying," see only gay people do meth. are you gay?"
I find it hilarious that the drug czar is playing the gay card. Edited by: oregonsavage

Haha, I was just gonna say something about the whole gay thing... like what the hell? Every "drug info" site out there, aside from a few (the good ones) totally goes off on the whole gay meth use thing. They even go so far as to say that meth is causing an "aids epidemic" because so many homosexuals are doing meth and going on wacky anal sex benders. It's ridiculous. It's even more ridiculous to think that places like that are the ones providing mainstream media with their info... it's funny how EVERY drug user is apparently an insatiable homosexual or will become one over time, not to mention that every homosexual is a drug addict with aids. It's the only logical conclusion, really.

Yea, meth and coke are completely different. I dont see why meth is looked down upon. Also, why is crack looked down upon. Its funny that the rich people can do it all they want, but once these poor mother fuckers from the ghetto smoke a rock of crack, they get thrown on cops. Its the same shit, you just smoke crack. I know for a fact some athletes use amphetamines, not to osure about meth though. Amphetamine would probably be more widely used because you can just get it in pill form. Amphetamine is also widely used among college students, who will one day be professionals. I see no reason why if any of these people work in the hospital, they wont use speed. I think it is becoming more acceptable too now. Times are changing.

I have enjoyed reading everyones take on the meth issue. It is probably the only drug I haven't used and that is by choose. My friend is a dentist and this boy's 15 mother had brought him into see the doc for tooth decay. The doc works in the prison alot and when he asked the boy how many years had he beendoing meth. The kid was surprised the dentist knew. At first he tried denying it, after the dentist explained to him that nothing else would have rotted his teeth away like that did he confess. Mom didn't believe the dentist and was taking Jr. away when Jr. said mom its true I have been doing meth for three years. There is a reason people look down on meth. its a dirty drug. Made with dirty chemicals. I am not a choir boy but I am not stupid either. Take clean drugs if its make from drano and colman fuel that should be a clue. If they are prescribing it for pain and people can't make it in thier bath room that may be a better choise.

well hey... it started with the working soldiers in ww2 it only makes sense that people who need for similar reasons (long hours, hard work, strenuous job, etc.) would be tempted to use it.

hell swim was in rehab last summer (3 times) and the first place had 3 delegates from capitol hill there. He thught they must've been drunks but after chating with them found out 2 were meth heads and one was there for oxy's. He told the meth heads at least they got something done around that place. The oxy add. must've been a republican. These dudes didn't look like meth heads but they were hard core ice bandits. Older dudes too. Just goes to show ya

Re: Meth Use by Professionals

we usually hard to find or detect a person who is taking meth or not...at my place, i have an experience to smoke meth with gov workers, teachers, lawyers,etc...they all are same, but their know how to take care of their image and responsibility...and this will make people unnoticed...they act like a normal person but do things in fast way, more productive, even creative..i thinks, that is the reality.
