Experiences - Horripilation (Goosebumps)

SWIM has been getting goosebumps all his life at the most random times, even self induced. SWIM gets them when he becomes emotional, when he listens to music, or just thinks about something.

When it happens, SWIM gets a massive rushing skin sensation allover his body, which tingles and feels very empowering, and his eyes become watery and he feels like crying.
This lasts between 3-7 seconds. Then its gone.

It kinda feels something like an OBE ( out of body experience). It feels like his soul is trying to fly out and rip away from his body.

SWIM can make it happen whenever he wants or when he listens to emotional music (sad, inspiring).

Words dont do justice to explain the feelings swim gets.

Does anyone know what this is or why this happens? What does it mean?

Dunno, but SWIM has fibromyalgia and quite often one side or the other of her body will fire up with goosebumps.. literally only one side, and she was told its a common symptom of the fibro.

I would think it probably has something to do with certain chemicals released in the brain that make certain nerve endings more sensitive? Just babbling though. no real idea.

Kind of adding to the OP, SWIM has the same things happen, more specifically when people talk about his DOC's. SWIM thinks when certain stimuli happen in the brain, you get goosebumps? Does SWIY actually have OBEs? Has SWIY ever had an OBE before?

interesting, yes swim has had two OBE experiences before while he was sleeping, he was dreaming and saw himself float and raise up and then he woke up and he was still floating and couldnt feel his body,( its alot more intense than how swim explains it)He wanted to scream but couldnt.

this happened twice in swims life. both around a year or 2 ago.

Maybe it's just the way a large emotion interacts with said SWIMmers. Is it not common for rape victims to have OBEs? Maybe intense emotion causes sensations similar to the starting stages of an OBE. Hell even thinking too much about OBEs SWIM will start to get goosebumps and feel the "starting stages" of one. It is probably because the few OBEs he has had have caused great emotional impact on his life. Lately SWIM has been encountering the begining stages (sometimes even actually having "mini" ones where he has an OBE, but not out of his body in a near by area, somewhere completely different, almost as if he has started dreaming, yet he is fully awake and can sometimes still see his wall/bed/etc) of OBEs before he falls asleep because he has been thinking a lot about emotional things including his substance use.
