Injecting - The First Time

Hello everyone,

SWIM is been snorting heroin for over a year now. SWIM's nose is completely messed up. SWIM feels as if they have had a cold this entire year+. Stuffy and to the point SWIM can't breathe through. All the while running snot everywhere. SWIM came to the conclusion their nasal spray was stopping them from getting high from the constricted blood vessels.

This is the time to take the next step. To inject. SWIM has read the pros and cons and decided it is happening today, once SWIM can purchase some needles (They were turned down at the local Walgreens yesterday. Because of no experience SWIM went to the pharmacy and just asked "Do you sell syringes? They replied no we don't." What liars, any suggestions?) Aprox. 6 hours and counting till SWIM can try again. SWIM has always wanted to inject but just never could do it because they hate needles.

SWIM wants to know if they can inject "cut" heroin. Around here it can be purchased by beans (capsules) 'cut' and a half grams/grams 'raw'. If SWIM injects cut heroin could this be bad or is it completely normal. The only way to get "raw" is by spending a great deal of money.

As for the run down:
1)Put h on spoon
2)Put up to 30 units of clean water on spoon with h
3)Heat spoon till almost boil
4)Use plunger (on needle? black rubber piece?) to mix solution
5)Drop cotton swap on spoon
6)Suck up solution
7)Stick into vein
9)Pull back plunger to see if there is blood
10)Let her loose, enjoy

I've never injected anything, and plan to keep it that way, but if I ever were going to I would DEFINITELY want an experienced shooter there in person to watch me do it and make sure I do it right. And to know what to do if things fuck up! There's only so much knowledge you can get from reading the internet...for some things there's no substitute for experience and as you don't have the experience, it'd be wise to make sure there's someone there who does, given the potential hazards here.

I just really, really don't want to log on this evening and see a reply from you saying "Lol my arm's turned black, what do I do now?".

SWIY's steps are mostly right. Be sure that SWIY swabs the injection site with an alcohol pad (easily purchased at a pharmacy). Otherwise, I'm not sure about your question concerning "cut" heroin. All heroin on the US market is cut to some degree, although purity levels are very high. SWIM's source brags that his stamped bags are 85% pure. Still, all heroin is cut, and the piece of coton SWIY drops into the heroin mixture helps filter out some of the impurities. Good luck to SWIY. If SWIY is shooting alone (as SWIM did the first time), the vein that runs through the bend of the arm is fairly easy to hit the first time.

Swim injected heroine only a few times with an experienced person who shot him up. The write up looks right but swim is not experienced enough to say its correct.

Getting needles shouldn't be a problem ask the experienced injector who is going to inject swiy where he is getting them from.

The person who injected swim got the needles for him, as swim is living in a small place and didn't want to ask the local pharmacist..

swim says:

-Keep everything clean/sterile.
-Only use a tourniquet/belt if you have to, and release after registering blood but before shooting home.
-Pick an obvious big vein, and go for that one.
-Inject in direction of blood flow, i.e the end of the pin pointing up your arm towards your armpit, NOT POINTING DOWN YOUR ARM TOWARDS YOUR HAND.
-Keep the needle as flat against your arm as possible, so the needle's running along the inside of the vein.
-Push the needle in in one firm movement. If you push it in too hesitantly it increases the risk of the vein rolling, and can do unnecessary damage.
-Inject slowly so you can pull out if you're not in a vein, or if it's hitting you too hard.
-Don't be afraid to poke around for the vein if you don't find it first time.

And preferably have someone around in case you need help. And remember to only use a tiny bit first!

SWIM just wanted everyone to know they just had complete success. SWIM said it was easier than expected.

Only problem SWIM said was that they didn't use enough heroin. Can SWIM proceed to inject again near the same spot? SWIM said it was very easy and no tourniquet was required.

Its usually a bad idea to keep using the same spot. For this instance SWIM would say for ease of getting SWIYself use the same spot but SWIY shouldn't do this a lot as leads to vein collapse. Getting the right amount of H is tricky the first time you inject. First time SWIM did it he felt nothing

Once again SWIM thanks you for the advice. SWIM wanted everyone to know he tried again and this time it was MUCH better. Even fell into a fantastic nod.

After 4 successful tries SWIM finally thinks they missed.

At the effected site SWIM says it looks like a mosquito bite. SWIM insists they pulled back the plunger and blood came in, however the needle did slip out just a bit before launch.

SWIM says it does not hurt or anything. However, SWM has been nodding all day long so they are unsure if it went in. Worse case scenario the site gets round and hard then eventually goes away? SWIM also says everything was clean and swabbed.

Perhaps someone has links to pictures of what misses look like?

None-the-less SWIM says this has been a freaking brilliant day. Do most people use short or long needles? In SWIM's case they purchased short 31 gauge. Because long needles look more scary.

Apparently SWIM did indeed make the last one a hit. There is no swelling or redness anymore. Guess he got lucky.

dude if you missed it would be pretty painful you would feel it for sure, if it burns it most likely means you missed and if a bunch of blood pours into ur rig you got it

only thing i would say is use more water around 50-80 units seems better not as thick and just as delicious"evil"

The mosquito bite thing is completely normal. It just means that the skin got a bit irritated (but not infected), just like when a mosquito breaks the skin. If SWIY misses the shot, the area surrounding the injection should turn rash-like and red (about grapefruit sized). Typically, this isn't a big deal either. Just means there will be no rush. The rash will disappear within 30 minutes or so. But the mosquito-bite-sized swelling is common. It happens to SWIM every so often too.

That's good to hear.

SWIM check other places on their body like feet, legs, etc. Even though on SWIM's arms veins stick out like crazy, SWIM can't seem to find a vein any where else.

SWIM honestly feels it's just because SWIM is new to the IV scene and even then would feel capable of shooting a small vein. For the time being SWIM will just have to stick with their arms and hope no one notices little red dots on the vein lines lol

Just a thought, would it be easier for SWIM to shoot up while taking a shower? Like get everything ready, cleaned and sterile of course, then jump in the shower to get nice and warm. Perhaps a bathtub too could work. However, SWIM could see how a bathtub could be dangerous if you nodded into the water, you would drown.

SWIM thinks the little ball of cotton is sticking absorbing the H and not letting it into the needle.

Also, When heating and stirred it's never perfect and SWIM can see the H floating around. Some sticks to the spoon just a big and think the cotton too. Should SWIM heat more and try to mix more? Is is this all common?

yeah, that's normal.....gear stuck in the filter is why alot of people cook up their filters when they've otherwise run out.
You cud always recook any residue stuck to the spoon, but chances are you've got most of it anyway, and alot of the residue is likely to be cut.

It basically depends how desperate you get.

I never thought about it that way Hapworth but you are correct. My parents are what I would call "Religious Freaks" lol. But they are very good people and still in fact my parents and I love them..

But anyways.. back to my topic..

SWIM has noticed 2 spots on their arms that are extremely sore. SWIM supposes he has "missed" in those 2 spots. There is a small bump on each spot, but really not even noticeable.

Hopefully they will go away soon. SWIM still indeed got high though. Funny thing is, SWIM says the plunger still pulled back blood before shooting home. SWIM has in fact missed and pulled no blood and re-shot for a vein multiple times (on smaller veins).
