Maybe a stupid question...

So my cat has gotten drunk 3 times. Last time was yesterday's night. For the first two times he had trouble seeing 'right': everything was moving and this was fun. But yesterday, altough he was drunk, he could see things as they are. Is this just because maybe he didn't drink as much?

I tought that maybe I did not need to use 'my cat', but better safe than sorry.
I apologize if this is in anyway retarded, cheers.

Re: Maybe a stupid question...

My Lizard's drunk a lot of booze in his day, and he really doesn't get what you're asking.

"Visuals" aren't really a feature of alcohol--it's not psychadelic. Now, some people get double vision, when their eyes begin not to track in parallel. Generally, though, this only happens to those with BIG tolerances, as alcohol only degrades motor skills at doses that would cause a casual drinker to already have passed out or become quite ill. Also, one gets "spins," also at high doses, from impairment of one's kinesthetic senses.

Most people see both of these as unwanted side-effects of alcohol.

But, yeah, if these two things are what your cat wants, it wil be necessary to drink heavily. And, this isn't too terribly safe, as once you start interfering with motor skills to that extent, autonomus stuff like breathing is next, not to mention that choking to death on vomit while asleep is possible.

Re: Maybe a stupid question...

Man, at first I was gonna slap ya for animal abuse but... yeah the mods are looser in the alcohol forum, but it's a good habit to get into round here anyways, keeps ya from slipping elsewhere. Considering the growing number of folks from muslim countries joining up, it may change here too.

As bcubed says, the "visuals" from alcohol aren't generally a good thing. For nobody, that's the point where they knwo they're calling it quits, any more and it's going to go down hill. Often at that point it's too late and your going to be in for a rough night, especially if your tired as laying down can make dizziness worse.

As your new to drinking, it's not a bad idea to figure out where your limits are through systematic testing. Once you know how your system tolerates alcohol, you'll be able to handle your self better, there's nothing worse then not paying attention and ending up sick on the floor.

Drinking equal amounts water for alcohol is a good way to keep your self from experiencing really bad hangovers, and can keep ya feeling full and less likely to chug too much.

.
the boozer in the next door basement tells me that the double vision has happen to him before, but it was very early in his drinking career . he drinks like a modurate amount when he feels the need. he has not had those effects since then.

I disagree totaly with the statement that it is caused by the downward effects from a long time of abuse. I think its just the opposite.

Re: Maybe a stupid question...

I'm sorry I did not explain myself correctly. I meant the blurred vision you get from alcohol, and even the 'beer googles'. My cat had these two the first time and second time but not the third.
My cat has never gotten a hungover

Re: Maybe a stupid question...

Someone's drunkenness and visions, views of the world, and general thinking.. Depends on the amount drunken, the kind of drink, example vodka can make some people aggressive and or depressed. While others are a happy drunk on vodka.

Also if someone has eaten, and most influential thing is the state of mined before drinking !!! When swim feels depressed drinking will make it worse, when he is happy drinking will increase the happy feeling !

Swim has times when he is drunk and can't walk in a straight line and he is aware of it, while other times he is in such a state that he can't remember anything....

Re: Maybe a stupid question...

Nobody didn't mean long term abuse, they meant when things start to spin they stop drinking right there and then... for the night, who knows what the next day will bring. Nobody meant that's just a warning sign that the next drink may lead to the porcelain throne.

"Officer, I could walk a straight line if you could draw one that wasn't moving all about!"

Re: Maybe a stupid question...

The radiator in my room whispered to me once that when she first started drinking, blurry vision was much more common. Once she got used to alcohol, alot of the effects were less noticeable. But she started drinking like ten years ago, so she may not be remembering very well.
