Conversion from XR to IR

Hey there DF,
I have always had a question about how Adderal's XR system works. My doctor put me on a 50mg dose of Adderal XR. Now say he was to switch me to the IR (instant release) version of the pill. Instead of a 50mg pill once per day, would I now be taking a 25mg IR pill twice a day, or a 50mg pill twice a day. I would susect that it would be the 25mg pill twice, but a coworker told me the opposite, what do you think?
