The Hobo's Guide to Poppy Tea
SWIM quit using this stuff a bit ago, but SWIM has a few useful techniques he might as well pass on. This is a hobo's (money saving guide) to crafting poppy tea in this uncertain economic time. This is useful if you are withdrawing from pain pills or heroin because it beats the cost of methadone or a hospital and it sure beats the living hell of withdrawing. SWIM recommends this only if you intend it to taper off opiates using this stuff. It CAN and WILL addict you.
What you need: Poppy pods (Find at: florist, someone's back-yard, etc) Hot water 2 large ziploc plastic bags 2 large containers of some kind. One with a lid, and one with a wide mouth 2-4 wide paper towel sheets A large rock. Yes, a rock. Take your poppy pods (2-4 golfball-tennisball sized should work just fine), tear off the stems, and toss out the seeds or save if you want. 1. Insert the stemless/seedless poppy pods into one of the plastic bags. 2. Put the plastic bag with the poppy pods in it INSIDE the second plastic bag. 3. Zip both partially closed so air can escape, but not your precious poppy pods. 4. Put plastic bag on a concrete surface. 5. Place rock in dominant hand. 6. Wildly smash the plastic bag containing the poppy pods untill it is a powder. 7. Now get one of your containers. Funnel the poppy powder into it. Note the level that the poppy powder is at in your container, and fill it with about 5x as much hot BUT NOT BOILING WATER. Boiling water destroys it. 8. Attatch lid to the container. 9. Shake violently for five minutes. Let it sit for ten minutes, shake again for five minutes, let it sit for ten more minutes. 10. Place two paper towels over the mouth of the second container, and poke it inside so the paper towel has a place to catch your tea but not far enough that it will fall into the cup when you put the tea in. 11. SLOWLY add contents from first container. If the paper towel (catcher) gets full, take it out, squeeze it gently to get every drop out, and put another two over the mouth and continue. 12. Squeeze the paper towel with the mashed up remnants in it to get out the last few drops. Squeeze it too hard and the paper towel will break and you will have a mess. At this point, if done correctly, you should have a nice brownish liquid that tastes worse than a 5 week old half eaten potato. Add Orange Juice to cover the taste and enjoy! Congratulations! If you found the poppy pods in someone's back yard, you just spent about $1.34 crafting your poppy tea. ![]() Note: This stuff is just as addicting as any other opiate, including heroin. If you drink too much you will stop breathing and die. Hundreds of thousands have overdosed and died doing this. Don't let that happen to you! Drink the tea OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. Take small sips once every few minutes untill you reach the desired level. Last edited by Alfa; 22-03-2009 at 14:02. |

Re: The Hobo's Guide to Poppy Tea
Most of the hobos swim knows of live in a camp in the woods next to the railroad yard.(swim checks there first when looking for his father)....they don't have frequent access to pods...but when they do they follow basicly the same procedure..........although they will substute Nighttrain instead of water, and they will not heat the Nighttrain because it says on the bottle that it must be drank cold because it contains phosphates......go figure...also the poppie grounds are left in the bottle so nothing goes to waste, although the ones with teeth left can filter some but the toothless don't really mind the wash because as one said"It's like having desert after dinner.".............bleeecckkkkkkk! To each their own I guess.

Re: The Hobo's Guide to Poppy Tea
There are SO many such TEKs already on here.
After the previous performance one made one wonders why this new thread telling people what they have already read a thousand times? Especially since one was so adamant on how evil opiates are to the point of deleting one of their own posts to ruin a thread that others may read. It makes one seriously wonder why another would provide information on a subject which only a couple of weeks ago they professed to having absolute hate for. This is not a flame, nor is it intended to insult so please do not take it as such. It is a serious question. Peace

Re: The Hobo's Guide to Poppy Tea
I know samurai. Swim changed his mind a bit after all the pharmaceuticals he was put on for depression did JACK compared to poppy pod/seed tea. Things were made much MUCH worse in terms of how swim feels about life when he left off, so now he is hopping back on the opiate wagon. Thanks for being courteous.
If I find the saved file for my 10 suggestions forum, I will put it back up. Forget anything I said. I was in a very VERY bad mood. It was just one of those days where I blamed everything on them where I should have blamed myself. |
