are there any safe stimulants?

other than caffeine? swim is fairly comfortable accepting psychedelics don't cause brain damage, and any inhibition caused by therabutic benzo play is often temporary as the receptors aren't getting burned out and there doesn't appear to be a neurotoxic side to them. swim respects opiates as drugs that weaken the hippocampus and synaptic plasticity.

but when swim thinks of stiimulants (coke, amph and e) swim thinks of dopamine burn outs and serotonergic neurotoxicity. is there a safe stimulant that won't kill brain cells? swim done caffeine powder but it is largely perifferal. thank you

Re: are there any safe stimulants?

Who says caffeine is safe? Regardless of neurological effects it's still putting a strain on your heart. Truth is, there are no (absolutely) safe drugs. Of course, there are no (absolutely) dangerous drugs either. Like any other activity it's a question of risk management, of balancing risk against benefit and just basically being sensible.

From SWIM's personal experience, MDMA has an exceptionally high benefit/risk ratio if used sensibly.

Re: are there any safe stimulants?

A lot of concern can be mitigated by responsible use. Daily amphetamine doses under 60 mg are considered safe by the FDA. Coca leaf has thousands of years of daily food use (4oz a day) with no discernable effects on the population.

Don't binge, don't take it for weeks on end with out a break. Eat healthy food every day, make sure to sleep.

Re: are there any safe stimulants?

SWIM would say maybe it's not the best idea to become dependent on stimulants (every-day use), dangers are usually amplified but feq. of use. I know you didn't say this BTW.

Maybe Ephridine would be okay for when energy is needed. MDMA/speed would maybe work in a small amount.

Re: are there any safe stimulants?

Stimulants obviously strain many different body systems by increasing metabolism and overall production of certain neurotransmitters. Whether it's legal stims like caffeine and nicotine or prescription only/illegal ones like meth and amphetamine, they all speed up bodily processes, which can lead to nutritional deficiencies and other problems. Some are obviously worse than others, but none is completely free of risk.

Some of the safer/milder ones include Yerba mate, coca, theobroma, guarana, and other natural stims like Calamus root, ephedra, and Betel nut.

Don't be too quick to assume caffeine is entirely safe. It does cause hospitalizations and even deaths, especially in combination with other stimulants, and in individuals with pre-existing (possibly undiagnosed) conditions.

SWIM totally agrees. but he would also add that personally, although it's not as easy to come by for the average joe, cocaine definitely beats amphetamine if SWIY's concerned about noticeable effects lingering on after the comedown. i.e., it takes days for SWIM to stop feeling the shittiness from coming down off speed, but never really notices coke's comedown the next day. but then again, everyone's different in how their bodies and minds react to different substances.

and yes, caffeine, as a stimulant, is just as much a drug as speed and coke, even if it is many times weaker. with heavy enough use, one can be noticeably affected by the way caffeine messes with the chemical balances in their brain, just like other uppers.
