Injecting - swim is a little worried some

he missed the vein the first time and saw a little big offluid go under the skin and quikly pulled out and hit the vein again just above it...today he woke up and the spot feels "tender" when touched it feels like the way a bruise would feel..the color of the skin is fine just the injection spot is very slightly raised , does swim have anything to worry about?

I would think it's probably just the usual tenderness associated with injecting subcutaneously, but if over the next few days the tenderness worsens, or the skin becomes red/swollen/hot, then obviously he should get it checked out for infection.

General,

Your friend will be fine. Soreness is common, especially if SWIY misses the shot. This happened to SWIM last week, and I've become pretty good at not missing. SWIM doesn't always feel that tenderness when he misses. Somtimes, he just gets a rash in the general area of the injection, and within half an hour or so the discoloration recedes. Just be sure that SWIY is being clean when shooting. Subcutaneous injections shouldn't be a problem at all if one is cleaning his/her hands, using clean eqipment, swabbing the injection area with an alcohol pad, etc.

it's most likely irritation from the miss. if it doesn't improve in a week though, swiy should see a doc to make sure it's not MRSA (methicillin resistant staph aureus). swim got that when she used to shoot and basically the hallmarks are increasing swelling pain and tenderness, and the area is hot/warm to the touch even after a few days have gone by. it is important to confirm that it's not MRSA because if that sort of infection is allowed to progress one can go septic (bacteria in the bloodstream), which kills pretty quickly.

that sounds fine kiddo. Last week swim fucked his left elbow bit by poking around like a twat with blunt needles.
when he shot up lower down near his wrist he got loadsa pain as the gear and citric went through (and probably fell out of) the fucked veins in his elbow. It well hurt!
Fortunately his right arm is pretty much bang on though.
