Just another Nutmeg trip report
SWIM tried nutmeg on 2 differnt occasions thinking it would work.
Here are his "write as you go" type of trip reports 5:08PM (0:00)- Managed to down all 3 TableSpoons of the ground nutmeg, 3 decent size mouthfulls. Chased it with cold water. Nasty taste at first but no real after-taste. 5:13PM (+0:05)- I notice my mouth and throat are signifigantly numb, nothing felt yet tho obviously. 6:08PM (+1:00)- Nothing felt yet. Also the numbness is gone from my mouth/throat 7:46PM (+2:38)- Not realy sure if im feeling a "high" but my short term memory is pretty fried and my pupils are getting big 8:15PM (+3:08)- Feeling kinda shitty i decided to smoke a cig to calm me down and it was great, feel good now, still not feeling the high tho 9:26PM (+4:18)- Feeling a decent buzz now, at some points it feels like a weed high and at some it feels like the coming up of a morning glory trip. 10:13PM (+5:05)- Well the big anticipated 5 hour mark has passed, im a little disapointed by the minimal effects of the nutmeg, mabye i didnt take enough? or do am i just coming up? idk.. 11:13PM (+6:05)- Well, its been 6 hours, i feel buzzed still, cottonmouths getting to me to, but its nothing like i imaged it would be, very disapointed. 1:37AM (+8:29)- Ive felt pretty stoned for a while its decent, cigs are realy enjoyable at this point, its turning out ok but i hoped when i peaked it would be insane 3:09AM (+10:01)- Still up and still pretty stoned, it doesnt realy feel like weed tho as much as it feels like a low dose of DXM oddly. im still disapointed with its low intensity but its getting better. 12:45PM (+19:37)- Well i woke up around 8AM with a buzz but nothing as intence as i thought it would be. Went back to sleep and woke up again feeling pretty buzzed still, no hangover or headache. IN ALL i think nutmeg works but the powdered nutmeg isnt as strong. The trip just wasnt strong enough, im going to give nutmeg another try but i need whole nutmegs next time. And here is SWIM's second attempt at nutmeg, useing WHOLE nutmegs this time. 11:30AM (+0:00)- crushed up 4 whole nutmegs (about 20-22 g's) mixed them in a cup with orange juice and drank it, it was rough as fuck especialy the bottom with all the chunks. 1:00PM (+1:30)- just relaxing waiting to see how long it takes to kick in, shouldnt be to long because i hadnt eaten all morning except the nutmeg/oj mix. 3:30PM (+4:00)- not feeling much from the nutmeg, a little buzz i guess. friend calls and wants to go smoke at the spot so we smoke like 3 bowls chill there for about 25 mins then head home. 5:18PM (+5:48)- feeling very fuckin stoned. kept forgetting to update my trip report. playing a few dumb online games with some friends and listenin to music, mostly the music. 5:38PM (+6:08)- still feeling stoned as hell but i dont think its the nutmeg, had bad cottonmouth earlier but its going away, eating some chilly mixed with baked potatoes and tortia chips its so good. 7:00PM (+7:30)- still feeling a little high, pretty sure its just the marijuana tho. very disapointed about the nutmeg.. 12:30PM (+13:00)- feeling pretty much completly sober. since the nutmeg isnt working i decide to go to bed. 9:40AM (+22:10)- wake up feeling normal, at least the nutmeg didnt give me a hangover, but it didnt get me a high. IN ALL from BOTH of my nutmeg experiences i think its a bust... i read that so many people had tripped off it and i realy thought it would work for me. I'll prolly end up trying it again tho. SWIM is wondering is there any reason why the nutmeg has minimal effects on him? or does anybody elce have thi same problem? |

Well for some people nutmeg is a positive experience, and some a negative one, so i guess its possible because of the varying of people results from tripping on it someone might not feel much of an effect at all.

First experience isn't surprising. They lose potency fairly quickly after being powdered, and anything you buy in the store has likely been powdered for several months or more.
For the second time, were the whole nutmegs reduced to powder? Just crushing it is be much less effective. If they weren't powdered, probably most of the nuts went undigested and the oil just passed through with them. What is needed is spice-consistency powder. A nutmeg grinder is the best way to do it, but those aren't very fashionable these days so are hard to find. Failing that, a coffee grinder works, although it's really hard on the motor. SWIM's experience has been that three nutmegs provide over two tablespoons of powder. This should be plenty for a single person, however it's possible that the potency varies significantly between nutmegs. There may also be differences in individual metabolism involved. Also, perhaps someone's expectations aren't in line with what nutmeg actually does. It gives some delirium and a "stoned" feeling. If a mushroom or LSD trip is what he's expecting, it's just not going to happen. |

The best way to use whole nutmegs is just to twist the kernel onto a parmesan cheese grater (most multi-faced graters have them, the side that's just hundreds of little holes). That will produce a very fine powder. Mix the powder up into some chocolate milk (or other milk substance), then drink. The milk substance masks the bitterness. It will still feel a bit sandy, but better than bitter sandy
![]() The quickest way is just to bite the kernel in half, fill SWIY's mouth with milk, chew half a kernel until no large pieces remain, then swallow. Repeat until desired dose has been ingested. SWIM has found this method to be mostly equivalent to powdering (perhaps 75-85%). Nutmegs should be medium to dark brown, and solid inside, never dusty dry or powdery. SWIYs with high tolerance to substances may need higher doses (such as greater than 2-3 kernels). Safety says to always start with 1 kernel however, until individual sensitivity is known. |
