My dog has anxiety as you may well of read, at the moment he self medicates with alcohol only at night upto 12 units, his vet says no worries with coming off that small amount (in terms of weaning) , he would need to be on 15 units + for any withdrawal effects, in effect the dog has not got any alcohol in his system for most part of the day.
This just sets the path for his question
Now the other day the dog took HALF of a .25 alprazolam, not alot but he is very cautious, first off he had a panic attack (he has a medication phobia so explains it) after 15 minutes he felt his body drop relaxed, after half an hour he felt on top of the world, a very rare experience, he also felt very sexual!

he went out in the car but after about haf an hour the anxiety crept back not as bad though and he managed to do things that he wouldnt normally do like stand in a supermarket queue, he got back home and all was relaxed again this effect lasted from 3.30pm - 10.30 ish! BUT upon going to bed he noticed he startled awake on nodding off most unsettling, he then felt dizzy, next day all was back to normal, he knows he didnt take enough to really hit the anxiety but feels they could be very good for it at the right dose BUT can anyone explain the after effects is this normal on such a weak dose and will they get worse the bigger the dose, or is that just my anxiety, although he had never had those symptoms???
