Codeine and alcohol for anxiety?
Hey all, SWIM has a question.
Could say 50-100mg of codeine and 2, 3 or 4 standard drinks of alcohol work effectively to temporarily cure social anxiety, and make one a bit more talkative and at ease?
SWIM has used codeine in the past to overcome his social anxiety in unfamiliar situations, such as new jobs. Although it wasn't overly effective, it still helped slightly. SWIM only does it once, and very occasionally, because once he is familiar with the situation, he doesn't experience anxiety anymore.
He realises it is only a temporary cure, and understands the danger of using it constantly as a crutch. So basically would this combination effectively cure social anxiety, say like benzodiazepanes. SWIM does not have access to any other medications to cure anxiety.
He can usually cope with the anxiety and has managed to face many situations which previously he would freeze up in. He is definately getting better as time goes on. He does not expect to have to do this again in the future, as experience in these type of situations has given him confidence for future ones.
SWIM has a situation coming up which is going to produce an enourmous amount of anxiety, it is something he has never done before, and would like to avoid the crippling anxiety. He knows once he has gotten used to this situation he will not need to self-medicate.
He can trust himself because of previous experiences.
Thanks for any replies, greatly appreciated.
