USA - Charged with possession OR use of marijuana.

SWIM is an 18 year old college student in wisconsin. He got caught with an unknown amount of weed, his friend says it was less than 10 grams. Because there were three roommates in the room at the time, and none of us admitted to owning the weed or ratted the owner out, the cops gave us each a $375 ticket and didn't charge anybody directly with possession. They also found our alcohol but they let us off on that charge and just made us pour it all out (while making fun of us...).

Anyway so we are each charged with possession or use of marijuana, we have an optional court date in April. I was told by one of my roommate's friends that if I admitted the charge to the court on that date then it would be wiped off my record, only I would be in a lot more trouble if I got caught again. I'd like to know if this is true, and if so if would I need to hire a lawyer to represent me. I would love to get this off my record but I don't have much money for an attorney.

Just a btw, I'm financially independent from my parents, and I'm trying to keep this from them if possible. I also have a question about Hawaiian Baby Woodrose Seeds, the cops confiscated my small stash of them. I'll ask that in the appropriate section.
