Snorting - Bad cuts of heroin

My buddy has been going down to the west side of Chicago for a while now buying heroin off the street. The kind he get's is white maybe a little off white like close to brown or tan, ya that would better describe it tan. He buys 10 dollar baggies. Every time he goes down there he never has a certain person he goes to he just drives around yelling "blow" to people he thinks might be drug dealers.

Anyway that was just a little back ground info here comes the question. He complains about what the heroin is cut with. Sometimes he say's it's chunky when it comes out of the bag, other times it just pours out not chunky. The one time he got it and it wasn't chunky he said it was really good. Is that what good heroin is suppose to be like? And it was really white. He called it "china white" Then other times when he got the chunky batch it would sometimes be good and sometimes not. I'm guessing when it was not good it was probably cut down really bad. Does anyone know what the normally cut it down with? And the other kind of batch he gets and says it's really bad. But still gets him high, but not as quick, it takes more. When he snorts it and it burns the back of his throat. Like it makes it painful to snort it. What can that be? Sometimes its not as bad. I just want to know if whatever is burning the back of his throat is not going to like eat away his throat at the same time.

Any info at all with peoples experience with heroin and maybe even people that have gotten it from the west side of Chicago would be really appreciated. Thanks!
